Top Southwestern Indiana high school athletes for week of Sept. 4-9

EVANSVILLE — This fall, the Courier & Press will highlight the top high school performances of each night.

Monday, Sept. 4

Laine Mullins, Jasper soccer: The senior goalkeeper helmed a shutout in a victory against Central that went to penalty kicks.

Tuesday, Sept. 5

Cal Armstrong, Central soccer: The junior had one goal and one assist in a 3-0 victory against Gibson Southern.

Santiago Arruffat, Harrison soccer: The senior recorded one goal and three assists in a win against Reitz.

Noah Chisholm, Harrison soccer: The freshman scored twice for the Warriors in a 5-3 conference victory over Reitz.

Beau Cobb, Boonville soccer: The junior had two second-half goals in a 3-1 conference win against North Posey.

Grant Doherty, Mount Vernon soccer: The senior scored twice for the Wildcats in a 2-1 win over Pike Central.

Brandon Elizarraras, Jasper soccer: The senior scored a hat trick for the Wildcats in their 10-0 victory against Vincennes Lincoln.

Addie Fullop, North Posey volleyball: The senior had 25 kills, 23 digs and five aces in a three-set win against Mount Vernon.

Chloey Graham, Gibson Southern soccer: The senior goalkeeper made 11 saves in a 1-0 victory against Mater Dei.

Lilly Hulsman, Jasper soccer: The senior scored a hat trick for the Wildcats in their 5-0 win against Princeton.

Taylor Martin, Reitz soccer: The sophomore had one goal and three assists for the Panthers in a win against Harrison.

Jackie Mosqueda, Boonville soccer: The senior recorded a hat trick for the Pioneers in a 4-2 victory over North Posey.

Josie Page, Wood Memorial volleyball: The senior had a game-high 15 kills in a three-set victory against Pike Central.

Carlee Rogers, Jasper volleyball: The junior posted 14 kills, 15 assists and eight digs in a three-set victory over Vincennes Lincoln.

Macy Sexton, Vincennes Lincoln golf: The senior tied her career best with a 1-over 36 at High Pointe in a match against North Knox.

Olivia Taylor, Reitz soccer: The sophomore had two goals for the Panthers in a 9-0 win over Harrison.

Hadley Weatherford, Mount Vernon golf: The senior was the medalist with a six-over 41 at Fendrich in a victory against Signature School.

Wednesday, Sept. 6

Addie Fullop, North Posey volleyball: The senior totaled 29 kills for the Vikings in their five-set victory against North.

Cooper Haas, Castle soccer: The junior had three goals and one assist in a win over Bosse.

Jilly Higgins, Castle soccer: The junior recorded a hat trick for the Knights in a win over Bosse.

Izzie Ryan, Castle soccer: The junior had one goal and three assists for the Knights in a win against Bosse.

Brady Seaton, North soccer: The senior saved three penalty kicks, including two in extra time, and scored the winning kick in a 1-0 (4-3 PK) victory against Memorial.

Brooklyn Sturgeon, North Knox golf: The junior posted a 39 to earn medalist honors in a match against North Daviess, Princeton and Eastern Greene.

Thursday, September 7

Matea Bradfield, Reitz soccer: The junior scored twice for the Panthers in a 4-0 win against Central.

Grant Doherty, Mount Vernon soccer: The senior added two more goals for the Wildcats in a 3-2 win over Gibson Southern.

Brandon Elizarraras, Jasper soccer: The senior had another hat trick with three goals in a 7-0 win against Heritage Hills.

Anna Herman, Vincennes Rivet volleyball: The senior totaled 31 kills for the Patriots in a four-set win over Northeast Dubois.

Claire Higginbotham, Gibson Southern soccer: The senior had one goal and one assist for the undefeated Titans in a 4-0 victory against Tell City.

Payge Johnson, Tecumseh volleyball: The senior totaled 13 kills, 19 digs, 14 assists and an ace in a three-set victory against Heritage Hills.

Jay Pena, Jasper soccer: The senior scored three times for the Wildcats in a victory against Heritage Hills.

Alex Rasche, Memorial volleyball: The senior led the Tigers with 14 kills and three aces in a four-set victory at North Posey.

Rylie Schipp, Heritage Hills soccer: The senior produced a hat trick for the Patriots in a 5-0 win over Washington.

Addie Weyer, Forest Park soccer: The senior scored twice for the No. 8 Rangers in a 4-0 win against Boonville.

Saturday, September 9

Maddie Graber, Southridge cross country: The sophomore broke her own school record at the Eagle Classic with a time of 18:58.7.

Cordelia Hoover, Reitz cross country: The senior took home first place in the Mater Dei Invitational with a time of 19:17.

Ashley Kirkland, Castle golf: The junior was the SIAC individual champion with a 6-under 68 at Helfrich.

Aleyna Quinn, Castle soccer: The senior scored two goals and added an assist in a 3-1 victory against Center Grove.

Carlee Rogers, Jasper volleyball: The junior totaled a career-high 23 kills in a five-set loss to New Albany.

Abby Shires, Memorial golf: The sophomore was the City individual champion with an 86 at Helfrich.

Xavery Weisman, Pike Central cross country: The junior took home first place at the Heritage Hills Invitational with a time of 18:19.
