Top high school basketball performers this week: milestones and memories for top teams

Here are some of the best performers for Upstate high school basketball teams during the week of Jan. 29  through Feb. 3. Athletes are listed in alphabetical order by school.

Boys basketball

Will Fowler, Byrnes: Fowler was honored among the seniors in a pregame ceremony – escorted by his parents, boys coach Lane Fowler and girls coach Missy Fowler – and also recognized for scoring his 1,000th career point. He then scored 22 more, including a game-sealing basket in the final minute, as Byrnes (21-4, 7-0) beat Dorman, 56-53.

Ethan Crews, Easley: Crews had 18 points in an 85-37 win against Pickens.

Aaden McDowell. Fountain Inn: McDowell scored 18 points as Fountain Inn (15-10, 4-5 in Region 2-AAA) secured a playoff spot for the first time in program history.

Bradyn Durrah, Greer: Durrah had 22 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks in a 66-48 win against Wade Hampton.

Musa Muriithi, Greer Middle College: Muriithi had 14 assists to go with 16 points and seven rebounds in a 66-46 win against Chesnee.

Jack Pfister, Greer Middle College: Pfister scored 21 points against Chesnee.

Braylen Silver, Greer Middle College: Silver scored 28 points in a win against Blacksburg.

Benett Edwards, Landrum: Edwards scored 36 points in a win against Greenville Tech and reached 1,000 points for his career. He is a junior guard for the Cardinals, who are 21-4 overall and 9-0 in Region 1-AA.

Hayden Assemian, Powdersville: Assemian had 18 points and nine rebounds in a 69-51 win against Southside.

Nick Sweet, Powdersville: Sweet had 16 points and five assists.

Jaden Johnson, Southside: Johnson had 29 points against Powdersville.

Zeke Marshall, Westside: Marshall had 20 points in a 61-58 win against Greenville as the Rams tied the Red Raiders for first place in Region 1-AAAA.

Nick McConnell, Woodruff: McConnell led Woodruff with 14 points in a loss to Clinton.

Abijah Franklin, Wren: Franklin scored at the final buzzer in a 65-64 win against rival Powdersville. He finished with 29 points and seven rebounds for Wren (19-5, 8-0). That was coming off a game in which he had 26 points, six steals and four assists in an 82-56 win against Palmetto.

Girls basketball

Zikira Henderson, Blue Ridge: Henderson had 26 points in a 55-45 win against Broome.

Pearl Holloway, Chesnee: Holloway scored 17 points in a 49-28 win against Greer Middle College.

Krislyn Wilder, Chesnee: Wilder had 23 points in a 51-46 win against Travelers Rest.

Savannah Brown, Landrum: Brown had 24 points and 22 rebounds in a win against Blacksburg.

Kaylee Cortez, Landrum: Cortez had 27 points against Blacksburg and reached 1,000 career points the next game in a win against Greenville Tech.

Madison Garrido, Riverside: Garrido had 13 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and six steals in a 57-37 win against Laurens.

Sophia Powell, Riverside: Powell had 16 rebounds and nine points.

Genesis Young, Spartanburg: Young reached 1,000 career points in a game against Gaffney.

Khalia Hartwell, Westside: The freshman center had 20 points and eight rebounds in a 61-39 win at Greenville as Westside improved to 19-3, 8-0 Region 1-AAAA.

Kyhia Paul, Westside: Paul had 16 points and 11 rebounds in an 82-23 win against Berea.

Ahri Scott, Westside: In the two games, Scott had a combined 35 points.

Raina McGowens, Wren: McGowens, a senior guard and program’s all-time leading scorer, had a combined 44 points, 12 assists, 12 rebounds, 11 steals in wins against Palmetto (81-21) and Powdersville (62-33). The UNC Asheville commit helped Wren improve to 22-2 overall and 8-0 in Region 1-AAA.

Olivia Randolph, Wren: Randolph scored a career-high 22 points and also had 12 rebounds with five steals against Palmetto. She had 18 points against Powdersville.
