Top Greater Taunton high school sports performers for Oct. 16-21

TAUNTON— The third week of October is now upon us in the Greater Taunton area.

With the golf and cross country regular seasons all but wrapped up, and most other sports just having a handful of regular season games left, the intensity is heating up for those looking to make that final push.

Here's a look at the Greater Taunton area's top performing high school athletes for the week of Oct. 16-21.

Friday

Boys Soccer

Spencer Jones and Jonathan Franco both found the back of the net as Dighton-Rehoboth (8-1-6, 6-1-5 SCC) beat Norton 2-1 on the road in non-league action.

Girls Soccer

Ava Alves led the way for Taunton (4-8-4, 2-8-4 Hockomock) with a hat trick while Kaylee Lopes had a goal and an assist, Leah Proule and Amelia McQuiggan scored, Juliana Matos had two assists and Marybel Do Rosario and Ava Uhl recorded assists as the Tigers beat New Bedford 6-1 on the road in non-league action. Goalkeepers Madison Crowley and Ashlyn Hebert combined for five saves in net.

Field Hockey

Olivia Reposa and Bridget MacDougall both found the back of the net as Taunton (4-12, 3-11 Hockomock) beat Attleboro 2-1 on the road in Hockomock action.

Penny Braga scored the lone goal for Dighton-Rehoboth (7-4-5, 4-2-3 SCC) assisted by Karina Bosco while Rowan Whittaker made seven saves as the Falcons tied Case 1-1 at home in SCC action.

Volleyball

Rachel Albernaz had 10 kills for Bristol-Plymouth (8-9, 3-6 MAC) while Nevaeh Sullivan had three kills, three blocks, two digs, two aces and an assist, Christele Derogene had two kills and two blocks and Ava Conrad had four dogs and three assists as the Craftsmen beat Seekonk 3-0 (25-16, 25-19 and 25-22) at home in non-league action.

Corinne Braga had 14 digs for Dighton-Rehoboth (3-15, 0-12 SCC) while Sofia Fernandez had three kills and four blocks and Skye Harrison had four aces as the Falcons fell 3-0 (22-25, 21-25 and 21-25) to Wareham at home in SCC action.

Thursday

Boys Soccer

Liam Hannon and Kristof Trond were among the scorers for Dighton-Rehoboth (7-1-6, 6-1-5 SCC) in a 3-0 win over Bourne on the road in SCC action.

Girls Soccer

Juliana Matos and Mia Torres both found the back of the net off assists from Lia Abouyazbek and Kaylee Lopes as Taunton (3-8-4, 2-8-4 Hockomock) drew Attleboro 2-2 on the road in Hockomock action.

Haylie Fortune and Willow Forbes-Smith both found the back of the net off assists by Lily Guirleo and Camryn Levie as Bridgewater-Raynham (12-2-1, 6-1-0 SEC) beat Dartmouth 2-1 on the road in SEC action.

Cailee Leonard led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (7-5-2, 5-4-2 SCC) with a goal and two assists while Alexis Leonard and Julia Chaves found the back of the net and Kohra Ouellette recorded an assist as the Falcons beat Bourne 3-0 at home in SCC action.

Golf

James Czech led the way shooting an 85 (+13) while Jordan Dietz and Charlie Rosa both shot an 87 (+15) and Ella Rosa shot a 96 (+27) as Dighton-Rehoboth (7-11, 7-7 SCC) finished fifth overall at the SCC Championship with a score of 355 at Allendale Country Club.

Wednesday

Field Hockey

Emily Keefe had a goal and an assist while Delaney Moreau recorded an assist as Bridgewater-Raynham (3-2-9, 2-4 SEC) beat Brockton 2-0 on the road in SEC action.

Volleyball

Nevaeh Sullivan had four kills, three digs, two blocks and an ace while Shelby Estrella had nine digs, five assists and four aces and Christele Derogene had seven kills and four blocks as Bristol-Plymouth (7-9, 3-6 MAC) fell 3-1 to Tri-County at home in MAC action.

Corinne Braga had 10 digs while Kylie Smith had four blocks and Hannah Cronin had three kills as Dighton-Rehoboth fell 3-0 (19-25, 19-25 and 7-25) to Greater New Bedford on the road in SCC action.

Tuesday

Girls Soccer

Emily Lincoln scored the lone goal for Bridgewater-Raynham (11-2-1, 5-1-0 SEC), assisted by Lily Giurleo, as the Trojans beat Brockton 1-0 on the road in SEC action.

Field Hockey

Olivia Gabriel led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth with a pair of goals while Caraline Corvi and Reese Jefferson both found the back of the net and Karina Bosco and Penny Braga recorded assists as the Falcons beat West Bridgewater 4-3 on the road in SCC action.

Golf

Richie Thayer was the medalist for Bridgewater-Raynham (9-5, 7-1 SEC) shooting a season-best 33 (-3) while Matt Lydon shot an even par of 36 and Jack Kless shot a 37 (+1) as the Trojans beat New Bedford 141-65 in SEC action at Olde Scotland Links. With the win, B-R claims a share of the SEC title with Dartmouth, marking their 10th straight league title dating back to the Old Colony League.

Monday

Boys Soccer

Kristof Trond and Ryan Moitoso both found the back of the net as Dighton-Rehoboth (6-1-6, 5-1-5 South Coast Conference) beat Apponequet 2-0 on the road in SCC action.

Girls Soccer

Cailee Leonard scored the lone goal for Dighton-Rehoboth (6-5-2, 4-4-2 South Coast Conference), assisted by Maggie Kazanjian, as the Falcons drew Apponequet 1-1 at home in SCC action.

Field Hockey

Francesca Fernandes scored the lone goal for Bridgewater-Raynham (2-9-2, 1-4 Southeast Conference) as the Trojans fell 2-1 to Silver Lake at home in non-league action.

Penny Braga scored the lone goal for Dighton-Rehoboth (6-4-4, 4-2-3 SCC), assisted by Olivia Gabriel, as the Falcons tied Durfee 1-1 on the road in non-league action. Rowan Whittaker made 18 saves in net.

Golf

Richie Thayer led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (8-5, 6-1 SEC) shooting a 37 (+1) as the Trojans beat Brockton 138-104 in SEC action at D.W. Field Golf Course. Other results for B-R include Matt Lydon shooting a 39 (+3), Jack Dion shooting a 40 (+4), Jack Balutis and Nolan Barbour both shooting a 41 (+5) and Jack Kless shooting a 42 (+6).

Nevaeh Sullivan had six digs, five kills, a block and an assist while Shelby Estrella had nine digs, nine aces and an ace and Lilliana Christiansen had five kills, two digs and an ace as Bristol-Plymouth (7-8, 3-5 Mayflower Athletic Conference) beat Old Colony 3-0 at home in MAC action.

Skye Harrison had five kills and three aces while Sofia Fernandes had eight blocks and two kills as Dighton-Rehoboth (3-13, 0-11 SCC) fell 3-0 (17-25, 21-25 and 24-26) to Apponequet at home in SCC action.
