Top Clarksville area high school volleyball players to watch in 2023 TSSAA season
The Tennessee high school volleyball season gets under way this month.
Here are some of the top Clarksville-area stars to watch during the 2023 TSSAA season.
Taylor Dominique
Northeast, Sr.
Position: Outside hitter
Why chosen: Dominique was second team all area in 2022, finishing the season with 126 kills, 14 blocks, 128 digs and 54 aces on an 87.5% serve percentage.
Madison Douglass
Northeast, Sr.
Position: Libero
Why chosen: Douglass tallied 349 digs, 15 kills, 24 assists, 45 aces and a 92.5% serve percentage last season and was named to the Leaf-Chronicle All-Area first team.
Alina Dziembowski
Clarksville, Sr.
Position: Outside hitter
Why chosen: Dziembowski had 97 kills, 53 digs and 32 blocks as the Wildcats went 31-12 and won district and region titles in 2022.
Shawnti Graham
West Creek, Sr.
Position: Outside hitter
Why chosen: Graham, a captain this fall, had 76 kills, 34 digs and 20 blocks last season as the Coyotes reached regionals.
Elysse Holloway
West Creek, Sr.
Position: Setter
Why chosen: Holloway had 156 digs and 30 assists last season. The latter number should go up as she replaces last season's setter, Jayla Wiggins, who led the city in assists.
Olyvia Holloway
West Creek, So.
Position: Outside hitter
Why chosen: Holloway is the Coyotes' leading returning scorer and server. She had 85 kills, 42 aces and 155 digs as a freshman.
Lorri James
Kirkwood, Fr.
Position: Middle hitter
Why chosen: The sister of two-time Leaf-Chronicle All Area selection Torri James should play a big role for the Cobras in their inaugural season.

Rossview, Sr.
Position: Middle hitter
Why chosen: James, a team captain, had a team-high 104 kills and 39 blocks last season, posting a .422 hitting percentage. She has an offer from Belmont.
Jenna King
Northwest, Sr.
Position: Libero
Why chosen: King averaged 20 digs and five aces per game last season to help the Vikings reach the Class AAA regionals.
Ella Moore
Clarksville, Sr.
Position: Middle hitter
Why chosen: Moore had 92 kills and a team-high 88 blocks last season.
Kiley Sims
Rossview, Sr.
Position: Setter
Why chosen: Last season, Sims had 45 kills, 225 assists, 64 digs and 45 aces on a 91.3% serve percentage.
Ellie Smith
Northwest, Sr.
Position: Outside hitter
Why chosen: Smith was named to the Leaf-Chronicle All-Area second team in 2022 after averaging double-digit kills.
Rylee Sullivan
Clarksville, Sr.
Position: Setter
Why chosen: Sullivan had 198 assists and 132 digs in 2022. She also had 35 aces while serving over 90%.
Hannah Thornhill
Clarksville, Sr.
Position: Outside hitter
Why chosen: Thornhill had 79 kills and a .261 hitting percentage last season.

Brianna Twitty
Kenwood, Sr.
Position: Outside hitter
Why chosen: Twitty is one of three seniors for the Knights and will look to lead the team.
Savannah Valencia
Clarksville Academy, Sr.
Position: Setter
Why chosen: Valencia is going into her third season as the Cougars' starting setter and is one of just three seniors on the team.
Joslyn Young
Northeast, Jr.
Position: Setter
Why chosen: Young registered 321 assists, 109 digs, 17 kills and 44 aces last season, serving at a 94.1% clip.
Emma York
Northwest, Jr.
Position: Middle hitter
Why chosen: York, a second team all area selection in 2022, averaged over 10 kills per game.
