Here are the top 5 Week 2 high school football games in the Manitowoc/Sheboygan area

There will be two contests Thursday, including one of the top five area games of Week 2, as teams across Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties continue their seasons.

Here is a list of the five high school football games you should pay attention to this week.

Thursday

Cedar Grove-Belgium (1-0) at Lake Mills (1-0)

When the Cedar Grove-Belgium Rockets and Lake Mills L-Cats square off it’ll be a rematch from last season, a 42-13 loss for the Rockets. Cedar Grove-Belgium’s defense was stout in a 24-13 win over two-time state runner-up Mayville in Week 1 and will look to continue that trend to close out the nonconference slate. The Rockets got a safety and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the contest by Owen Morgan. A win would go a long way toward proving Cedar Grove-Belgium might be a force to reckon with come the postseason.

Friday

Amherst (1-0) at Two Rivers (1-0)

The Two Rivers Raiders expect to be legit state championship contenders and while it's only nonconference, a matchup with the Amherst Falcons will go a long way toward testing their mettle. The Raiders topped Bonduel in Week 1 24-12 behind the offensive exploits of quarterback Justin Klinkner and running back Chase Matthias. The Falcons, one of the best medium size programs in the state, dominated Clintonville by over 45 points last week. Two Rivers will have to contain the Amherst rush, which tallied 400 yards and eight scores.

Kiel (0-1) at Sheboygan Falls (1-0)

A pair of former Eastern Wisconsin Conference rivals meet when the Kiel Raiders take on the Sheboygan Falls Falcons. The Raiders dropped a 35-21 contest against Kewaunee to begin the season while the Falcons edged Beloit Turner 35-28. Sheboygan Falls will look to continue a strong ground attack which saw quarterback Evan Behling rack up 230 yards and running back Drake Moberg tally 154. Kiel features an aerial offense led by quarterback Cade Voelker, who tossed for 208 yards and three scores last week.

Mona Shores (0-0) at Manitowoc Lincoln (1-0)

Even though the SS Badger isn’t operating due to a mechanical issue, the Manitowoc Lincoln Ships are still hosting the Mona Shores Sailors from Muskegon, Michigan, in a nonconference clash. The Ships made the voyage across Lake Michigan last season and lost 48-20, so Lincoln will look to see how it fares this time around. It was a strong showing for the Ships to begin the season last week, defeating Appleton West 29-6 with a shutout going until the final two seconds of the game.

Reedsville (1-0) at Lourdes Academy (1-0)

The Reedsville Panthers and Lourdes Academy Knights have faced off in nonconference the past two seasons, both wins by the Panthers. Each team is coming off Week 1 wins albeit completely different types of contests. Reedsville bested Mishicot 7-6 while Lourdes Academy rolled past Living Word Lutheran 48-16. The Panthers will need to account for Knights dual-threat quarterback Wade Lindahl, who had almost 300 yards of total offense and found the end zone five times. Reedsville’s own dual-threat signal caller, Parker Maney, racked up over 200 yards of offense and figures to be a key piece if the Panthers want to make it three wins in a row over the Knights.
