Top-15 2024 safety Marquawn McCraney visits USC

Marquawn McCraney is rated the nation’s No. 12 safety in 2024, and got his USC Trojans offer early this month. McCraney, who has also played receiver in high school and returns kicks as well, took his first unofficial visit to USC on Thursday. Lincoln Riley and USC are looking to lock up the prospect before the season starts.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound wide receiver/safety, out of Burien, Washington, has scholarship offers from Arizona, California, Utah, Washington and USC.

The value of getting a prime piece in the secondary is self-evident for Lincoln Riley, Alex Grinch, and the Trojans. It is notable that other Pac-12 programs are heavily interested in the prospect, but it’s worth remembering that USC won’t be dealing with the Pac-12 in 2024 (beyond one nonconference game). The idea of seeing a Pac-12 team wind up with McCraney won’t be nearly as damaging now, compared to a few years ago.

We will see where this recruitment goes.
