Top 10 D-League Showcase prospects

The NBA Development League's Showcase begins Thursday in Santa Cruz, Calif., and one long-time scout thinks there will be plenty of talent to consider among the 16 D-League teams.

"Overall, there is some pretty good talent and some call-up candidates," the long-time scout said. "My personal feeling is the same guys you see on the bench [Nos.] 12-to-15 on NBA rosters are the same guys you see in the D-League. It's just about opportunity. This season I've seen a lot more NBA scouts at D-League games than before."

Here's 10 potential call-ups to watch at the D-League Showcase.

1. Quincy Miller, Reno Bighorns, F, 6-10, 219 pounds: "He's still young and might be the best prospect with his length, ability to play small forward and power forward, make 3-pointers and handle the ball, too."

2. JaMychal Green, Austin Spurs, F, 6-9, 220 pounds: "He is the MVP of the D-League so far. He can rebound and he can spread the floor. He's a jump shooter who can knock down the 12- 15-footer and is a consistent rebounder."

3. Seth Curry, Erie Bay Hawks, G, 6-1, 180 pounds: "He is the D-League's best shooter. He is a combo guard who plays primarily off the ball. He lacks quickness, but makes up with it with his savvy style."

4. Glen Rice Jr., Fort Wayne Mad Ants, G-F, 6-6, 215 pounds: "This true small forward is versatile, has good size and can play some power forward in the D-League. He can shoot, defend and rebound."

5. James Michael McAdoo, Santa Cruz Warriors, F, 6-9, 228 pounds: "An energetic and athletic big who can convert on alley-oops and put-backs. A really good defender who gets steals and help-side blocks."

6. Willie Reed, Grand Rapids Drive, F, 6-10, 220 pounds: "He is one of the better rebounding big men in the D-League, which is weak in centers and power forwards. He has NBA experience and can play in the league."

7. Earl Barron, Bakersfield Jam, C, 6-11, 230 pounds: "He was the last cut of the Phoenix Suns and he should've made the team. He can shoot and he's sticking around for the NBA instead of going overseas."

8. Chris Babb, Maine Red Claws, G, 6-5, 225 pounds: "He can shoot and defend multiple positions from point guard to power forward in the D-League. He has to improve his ball-handling skills."

9. Bryce Cotton, Austin Spurs, G, 6-0, 163 pounds: "Has exceeded expectations to become the D-League's best overall point guard, but is undersized. Changed from a being volume shooter."

10. Andre Dawkins, Sioux Falls Skyforce, G, 6-4, 206 pounds: "He is one of the D-League's top shooters, but he needs to improve on creating his own shot and get better on defense."
