Tony Ferguson pulls out of UFC fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov after knee injury
The Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov fight will not proceed as planned … again. Ferguson had to pull out of his bout with Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 due to a knee injury.
Ferguson will not fight after tearing his LCL. He will undergo surgery to repair the injury.
With the event just six days away, Dana White was able to find a replacement for Ferguson. Nurmagomedov will take on featherweight champion Max Holloway instead.

If Holloway manages to pull off the win. He would hold both the lightweight and featherweight titles. The only other fighter to hold both titles at the same time was Conor McGregor.
Upon hearing the news Nurmagomedov encouraged Ferguson to “heal up” on an Instagram post. He also took a shot at Ferguson, saying “don’t talk to much anymore” and “watch your mouth.”

Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have had problems fighting each other over the past two years. Both fighters had previously pulled out of scheduled fights with each other due to injuries. Nurmagomedov also pulled out in the past after having trouble dropping weight.
