Tom Brady Sr. reveals Robert Kraft admission that Patriots made mistake letting Tom Brady leave

The New England Patriots have not made many on-field mistakes over the last decade and a half. However, owner Robert Kraft admitted he made one mistake back in September, during the team’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tom Brady’s family made the trip to Gillette Stadium to see the seven-time Super Bowl champion honored on the field at halftime. It was quite the celebratory day with Brady running onto the field and speaking to the fans. New England ended up losing the game by a 32-29 score. However, Brady’s presence alone electrified the building.

It was during that day that Kraft admitted a mistake he made to Tom Brady Sr., as transcribed by NESN.com’s Adam London.

“He just said, ‘I made a mistake.’ He told us that back in September,” Tom Brady Sr. told The Boston Globe’s Christopher Gasper. “We don’t all make the right decisions, but he’s made a hell of a lot of good ones over the years. But I know that it galls him that Tommy went elsewhere and won. Not that he won, but that he won after Bill (Belichick) said he was done.”

Imagine what life would have been like for the Patriots if Brady never left the team. An argument could be made that the legendary quarterback was ultimately better off for it considering he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won a Super Bowl on a completely new team in his first season.
