TOCHELLI CHAMPIONSHIPS: Wallenpaupack teams, Lakeland boys, Western Wayne girls win team titles

May 6—Wallenpaupack won the girls and boys Class 3A team championships, while Lakeland captured the Class 2A boys team title and Western Wayne won the girls Class 2A team title at the Phil Tochelli Junior High Track and Field Championships at Lakeland High School on Friday.

The meet serves as the championships for the Lackawanna Track Conference.

Libby Brennan won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and June Brown won the 400 to lead Wallenpaupack, which also won the 3,200 relay and finished with

93 points in the girls Class 3A competition.

Kiana Seid won the long, triple and high jumps for Abington Heights, which finished second with 76 points. Valley View's Sadie Loftus won the 800 in a meet record time of 2:28.10. Teammate Eva Kaszuba won the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, and the Cougars won the 400 relay to finish third overall with 68 points.

In the boys meet, Robert Kratzer won the 100 and 200, Zayden Lamfers set a meet record in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.76, Chase Predmore won the 1,600, Blake Theobald won the 800, and Ryan Vargo won the discus for Wallenpaupack, which rolled to the team title with 106 points. The Buckhorns also won the 1,600 relay and the 3,200 relay.

North Pocono finished second with 64 points and Abington Heights was third with 49.5 points.

Class 2A

Savannah Mayes won the discus to lead Western Wayne to the girls title with 66 points.

Dunmore finished second with 54 points and Lakeland and Elk Lake had 44 points.

Elana Piepoli won the 100 hurdles, Amelia Hinton won the long jump and the Lady Bucks also won the 400 relay. Bria Hill won the 100 and 200 for Lakeland.

Mid Valley's Gwennyth Mazur won the 1,600 and the 800.

Henry Decker set a meet record with a time of 2:10.01 in the 800 and also won the 1,600 to lead Lakeland to the title with 60 points. The Chiefs also won the 400 relay.

Mason Vinansky won the 100, Adam Pezanowski won the 300 hurdles and Robert Matiolli won the shot put for Mid Valley, which finished second with 52 points.

Western Wayne won the 3,200 relay and the 1,600 relay, and Joey Tickner won the 200 and the Wildcats finished third with 49 points.

Riverside's Brayden Rose won the triple and high jumps.
