Titans place Brett Kern on Reserve/COVID-19 list

The Tennessee Titans could be without both their starting kicker and punter for the regular season finale against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium in Week 17.

On Tuesday, the Titans announced that punter Brett Kern has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, which comes just one day after kicker Stephen Gostkowski was also put there.

At this point, it isn’t clear if either or both players tested positive for the virus, or simply came in close contact with someone else who did.

Should Kern and Gostkowski miss Sunday’s game, the Titans have punter Trevor Daniel and kicker Sam Sloman ready on the practice squad to fill in.

Sloman has yet to play in a game for the Titans since being signed to the practice squad back in November, but he did play in seven games for the Los Angeles Rams this season, converting on 8-of-11 field goal tries and 18-of-21 extra point attempts.

Daniel, on the other hand, has played in two games for the Titans this season, one of which came in Week 10 against the Indianapolis Colts when he shanked one punt and had another blocked.

However, Daniel did rebound the next week by totaling an average of 46.5 yards per punt in his two attempts.

Tennessee will be looking to secure its first division title since 2008 with a win over Houston. Kickoff is set for 3:25 p.m. CT.
