Times' Top Performances from last week: Oct. 30-Nov. 5

Every Monday, the Beaver County Times will recognize both individual athletes and teams for their impressive performances that took place in the last week of high school sports action. Here are the standout efforts from the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 5.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Chloe List, Beaver Area

The Bobcats prevailed as WPIAL Class 2A Champions Saturday afternoon at AHN Arena at Peters Township High School and a big part of the championship run was because of list who led the way for Beaver Area through the semifinal and championship round. On Tuesday, List put up yet another double-double performance as she recorded 16 kills, a season high 31 digs, and two aces in her team’s four set victory over Quaker Valley. Then in the championship match on Saturday, List continued to pad the stats in the victory as she tallied 20 kills, 28 digs, along with one ace in the match. Beaver Area will open up state tournament play against Corry at home Tuesday evening.

Ringer was also dominant over the course of the final rounds of the WPIAL state tournament as she recorded a double-double as well on Tuesday as she tallied 39 assists and 11 digs in her teams winning effort. She followed that performance up with a season high 45 assists, six digs and three aces in the team’s five set thrilling victory over Freeport on Saturday.

BOYS SOCCER

Bennett Haas, Quaker Valley

Haas once again showed up when it mattered the most for the Quakers Monday night as the team was trailing late in its WPIAL semifinal matchup, Haas tallied the equalizer along with the game winning goal for the Quakers capping off a two goal one assist performance. Even though Quaker Valley fell in the WPIAL Championship game against South Park Thursday night, the team will still have a chance to compete for a PIAA championship as the first round kicks off this Tuesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Mackenzie Mohrbacher, Freedom Area

Mohrbacher found the back of the net when it mattered the most Friday evening during the Bulldogs WPIAL Championship game Friday night at Highmark Stadium as she scored the game winning goal in the team’s match against Riverview with eight minutes to go in full-time. The goal from the sophomore help mark back-to-back WPIAL 1A Championships for Freedom Area. The Bulldogs will look to carry that momentum into the PIAA 1A state tournament starting on Tuesday.
