Times-News Toughest: New No. 1 team, individual shakeups in latest D-10 wrestling rankings

Finally, some clarity.

At least for now.

This past weekend helped greatly in foreshadowing the District 10 wrestling postseason, including a clash between the district’s top two teams. Reynolds beat Fort LeBoeuf 28-25 at Brookville’s Ultimate Duals to claim the top spot in these team rankings.

That dual was decided at 139 pounds, where Reynolds’ Chase Bell took down Jake Bennett in overtime to score a 3-1 victory in Saturday’s final match. The teams had split the previous 12 bouts.

Reynolds finished a perfect 5-0 at the Ultimate Duals, whereas Fort LeBoeuf was 3-2, also falling to Burrell. The Bison, currently without star 189-pounder Conner McChesney due to injury, will hope for another shot at Reynolds next month.

Corry’s Beaver Brawl team duals were another important site for D-10 results despite state power Bishop McCourt winning the tournament with a 6-0 Saturday. Corry’s 41-27 victory over third-place Titusville granted the Beavers runner-up status, whereas St. Marys finished fourth and Saegertown was fifth.

General McLane finished third with a 4-1 campaign at the Clearfield Bison Duals, dropping its semifinal to Montoursville before beating Port Allegany 35-24 in the consolation final. It was an eventful Mercer VFW tournament for Cambridge Springs senior Brody Beck, who logged his 100th career win on his way to the 145-pound championship.

Below are updated D-10 rankings. Some shuffling among lightweights stems from uncertainty over which weight class wrestlers will choose for individual postseason.
