Tiger Woods score today at 2024 Masters Tournament: Scorecard, results from first round

Even as he approaches his 50th birthday, Tiger Woods is still a singular force in the world of golf, a magnet for attention, intrigue and awe.

Woods is one of the most accomplished golfers in the history of the sport, with 15 major championship victories — 14 of which he won by the time he was 32 years old — as well as a commercial portfolio and gravitational pull no golfer had ever previously enjoyed (or has enjoyed since). He wasn’t just a golfer, but a cultural symbol whose fame transcended the world of sports.

Though a string of major injuries and surgeries slowed his relentless run of wins and limited him to just one major championship since 2008 — a memorable victory at the Masters in 2019 — Woods is still a figure of intense interest for golf fans any time he plays in a tournament.

While Woods plays in far fewer tournaments than he did at the height of his powers, he still regularly makes the April trip to Augusta National Golf Club for the Masters. This year, he’ll be among the roughly 90 golfers in the field competing for the green jacket, which Woods has won a handful of times over the course of his decorated career.

Even though Woods is just the No. 959 golfer in the most recent Official World Golf Ranking, he’ll be someone whose every swing will be closely followed beginning Thursday and, if all goes right, through the weekend.

Here’s an updated look at Woods and how he’s faring at the 2024 iteration of the Masters:

Tiger Woods wins at Masters

Of Tiger Woods’ 15 major championship wins, five have come at the Masters, his most of any of golf’s four preeminent tournaments.

Woods won the Masters in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2019. His five Masters victories are the second-most ever, behind only Jack Nicklaus’ six.

Tiger Woods history at Masters

Prior to this year, Woods has played in the Masters 25 times, going all the way back to 1995, when a 19-year-old Woods qualified for the tournament after winning the 1994 U.S. Amateur. Just two years later, he won the event by 12 strokes. By doing so, he became both the youngest winner of the Masters (at 21 years old) and the first non-white champion.

Beginning with his first-place finish in 1997, Woods won five of the nine Masters from 1997-2005. That run was punctuated by a victory in 2005, in which Woods famously chipped in for birdie on the 16th hole in the final round and went on to defeat Chris DiMarco in a playoff.

Due in large part to a deteriorating body, Woods wouldn’t win again at Augusta National until 2019, when he finished 13-under to edge Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele, all at 12-under. It was Woods’ first victory in a major championship since 2008 and, at 43 years old, he became the second-oldest Masters winner ever, behind only Nicklaus, who famously won the 1986 Masters at 46 years old.
