Tigers take advantage of errors against Roughers

Apr. 25—The Tahlequah Tigers took down the 6A Muskogee Roughers on the road to improve their record to 19-11 on the season.

The Tigers took advantage of some opportunities to take the 6-3 win on Thursday, April 25. Despite getting outhit 8-5, the Tigers took advantage of their base runners for the win.

Beckett Robinson drove in the first run for the Tigers with a fielder's choice in the second inning after THS drew three straight walks. A hit-by-pitch to Brayden Northington marked the fourth free pass of the inning and gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

Going into the fourth inning, the Roughers were looking to get on the board. The Tigers gave up four singles and a double to allow MHS to tie the game 2-2.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Tigers bounced back. After a single from Robinson, an error allows him to come around. While stealing second, the MHS catcher overthrew the shortstop allowing Robinson to score from first. THS picked up their second run via error when Synjin Sampson scored on an error by the third baseman. Another error in the outfield gave the Tigers a 6-3 lead.

The Roughers picked up a run in the bottom of the seventh inning but couldn't secure the win.

THS is back in action at 5 p.m. against Grove at home on Friday, April 26.
