Tiger Woods has surgery on right ankle to address post-traumatic arthritis

Tiger Woods, who withdrew from the Masters on April 9 because of “constant” pain, underwent surgery on his right ankle on Wednesday to address post-traumatic arthritis, he announced on his Twitter account.

Woods severely injured his right leg in a car crash in 2021 in Rolling Hills Estates, south of downtown Los Angeles.

The procedure, a subtalar fusion, is meant to address his previous talus fracture, according to Woods.

Dr. Martin O’Malley of the HSS Sports Medicine Institute in New York preformed the surgery and has determined the surgery to be successful, according to Woods.

"Tiger currently is recovering and looks forward to beginning his rehabilitation," the tweet said.
