Tide men 7th, women 9th after first day at SEC Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Alabama opened day one of the 2017 Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., on Tuesday in seventh place with 119 points on the men’s side and in ninth with 87 points on the women’s.

The Alabama women’s 200 medley relay of Caroline Korst, Bridget Blood, Hannah Musser and Bailey Scott combined for a school-record 1:37.02 for sixth place and an automatic NCAA qualifying standard.

Connor Oslin, Pavel Romanov, Luke Kaliszak and Zane Waddell placed second in the men's 200 medley relay with a time of 1:23.52, just .08 behind Florida.

In diving, Brent Sagert scored off the 3-meter springboard, taking 14th place with 310.85 points. Kara Fredlock was 19th (282.05) and Ayanna Woods 24th (273.20) off the women’s 3-meter springboard.
