In volleyball

Arcola 2, Villa Grove 0. A 25-23, 25-19 Lincoln Prairie Conference outcome favored the Purple Riders (8-6) despite 17 assists from Kayln Cordes and eight kills from Alexis Cassano to lead the Blue Devils (10-6).

Centennial 2, Danville 0. The Chargers (10-11) went on the road and returned with a 25-10, 25-15 Big 12 win over the Vikings (1-18) thanks to five kills from Maiyah Flemmons, four kills, four aces and four digs from Lillian Doughty and seven assists from Brylie Klaudt.

Cissna Park 2, Armstrong-Potomac 0. A red-hot Timberwolves (15-2) squad jetted past the Trojans (4-9) in a 25-11, 25-10 decision thanks to eight kills from Addison Lucht and six kills from Sophie Duis, plus 22 assists and five aces from Ava Morrical and six digs from Morgan Sinn.

Heritage 2, Blue Ridge 0. Home-court advantage was kind to the Hawks (12-7-2), who claimed a 25-22, 25-23 win over the host Knights (3-16) in a Lincoln Prairie Conference contest. Heritage's strong all-around effort was highlighted by 11 assists from Mary Roland, nine digs from Addi Hopper, six digs from Bailee Lubben, four kills from Riley Miller, three kills from Madi Wilson and two kills apiece from Gracie Tate and Loran Tate. Phoebe Reynolds paced the Knights with seven kills and Paige Browning added seven digs.

Eureka 2, Fisher 0. The host Hornets were victorious in a 25-11, 25-9 win over the Bunnies (6-9) despite two kills from Paige Hott and one kill from Sadie Bruggman.

Iroquois West 2, Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 0.A strong second set propelled the Raiders (4-10) to a commanding 25-17, 25-2 win over the Blue Devils (8-8) in a Vermilion Valley Conference match in Gilman.

LeRoy 2, Tremont 1. Sixteen kills from Laila Carr and 25 assists from Haley Cox keyed the Panthers (11-7) to a narrow 25-19, 21-25, 25-23 win over the Turks in Heart of Illinois Conference play.

Monticello 2, St. Thomas More 1. A close Illini Prairie Conference match tilted toward the host Sages (13-4), who edged the Sabers (10-8) in a 25-22, 19-25, 25-23 decision on the strength of eight kills from Sierrah Downey, six kills from Emma Hillard and six kills and two blocks from Ashley Stiverson. Julia Johnson and Shannon Monahan each recorded 12 kills for the Sabers while Addie Kerr tallied 26 assists.

Peoria Notre Dame 2, Urbana 1. The host Irish cruised past the Tigers (1-7) as the latter ventured up Interstate 74, winning 25-10, 25-10 despite eight kills and four digs from Urbana's Sammi Christman, four assists, three digs and two aces from Sophia Sheyko-Frailey and four digs, two kills and one assist from Valentina Gonzalez-Ahuerma.

Bloomington Central Catholic 2, Rantoul 0. Despite five assists and two kills from Ashlee Freeman and two kills apiece from Airiana Bell and Lily Stalter, the Eagles (7-12) suffered a 25-12, 25-15 loss to the Saints in an Illini Prairie Conference showdown.

St. Joseph-Ogden 2, Pontiac 0. The Spartans (17-2) went on the road and claimed a 25-17, 25-17 win over the Indians after Addie Roesch had nine kills, Ava Seggebruch and Peyton Williams had five kills apiece, Halle Brazelton had 15 assists and Sadie Ericksen had 10 digs.

Salt Fork 2, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 0. The Storm (6-7) secured a 25-9, 25-19 road win in VVC play thanks to 10 kills and five blocks from Macie Russell, six kills from Rain Pitlik and 26 assists from Ava Ringstrom. The Buffaloes (9-11) were led by four kills apiece from Milee Ellis and Kendall Roberts , who also had four digs.

Unity 2, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 0. An offensive attack led by Reagan Little (11 digs, seven kills and four aces), Jillian Schlittler (five kills, three digs) and Ruby Tarr (10 assists and three digs) helped the host Rockets (7-13) earn a 25-15, 25-23 win over the Panthers (2-9).

Warrensburg-Latham 2, Tuscola 0. The Warriors (2-17) met defeat in a Central Illinois Conference match against the Cardinals, losing 25-8, 25-13 despite six kills from Sydney Moss, seven assists from Emily Czerwonka and seven digs from Carly Ochs.

Watseka 2, Schlarman 0. Six kills from Lauren Tegtmeyer and three kills apiece from Ella Smith and Haven Meyer combined with nine digs from Brianna Denault and eight assists from Christa Holohan helped the Warriors (13-5) to a 25-8, 25-14 win over the host Hilltoppers (1-9) in a Vermilion Valley Conference match.

In boys' soccer

Centennial 4, Danville 0. The host Chargers (6-5-1) celebrated their senior night with a comfortable win over the Vikings (3-7-3) that featured goals from Victor Fernandez, Rommy Hassan and Beni Kavumvula as well as a penalty kick from Tresody Ondongo, who also registered two saves. Kavumvula recorded an assist while Dylan Ho had two assists.

Champaign Central 10, Monticello 2. A four-goal outing from Matthew Winterbottom combined with additional scores from Axel Baldwin, Julien Moss, Erik Sanchez, Abel Vines, Ben Wellens and Diego Zarco keyed the Maroons (9-2-1) past the host Sages (4-10) in a nonconference match. Issack Ocadiz and Jack Tanner scored for the Sages.

Fisher/Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 6, St. Anne 2. First-half goals from David Hull, Isaiah Johnson and Sid Pfoff combined with second-half goals from Hull, Pfoff and Zack Zbinden to key the Bunnies (14-1) to a nonconference win. Hull assisted on two goals while Johnson, Pfoff, Mason Doman and Jose Rebollo each added assists of their own.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Westville 4, Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 1. Two goals from Luke Barney and additional strikes from Easton Barney and Simon Ankstatis lifted the Buffaloes (9-1-1) past the Blue Devils (3-10) in a Vermilion Valley Conference match. Brendan Whitney scored the lone goal of the match for BHRA.

Oakwood/Salt Fork 5, Hoopeston Area 0. A hat trick from Ethan Merritt and two goals from Macen Phillips helped O/SF (9-6-1) cruise to a comfortable win over the host Cornjerkers (10-4-1) in Vermilion Valley Conference play. Phillips added two assists while Aidan O'Brien, Cooper McRae and Brody Tafflinger added assists of their own. Owen Root had five saves for the Cornjerkers.

Rantoul 2, Unity 0. Elliott Mitchell and Jeferson Soto found the back of the net for the Eagles (5-6-1) as they edged the host Rockets (4-5-1) in an Illini Prairie Conference duel.

Urbana 2, Normal West 2. Kevin Perez-Briseno scored twice — on a penalty kick and a free kick — while Henry Burrus saved seven shots and Jevan Juday saved four shots to force a draw in a Big 12 Conference match on the home turf for the Tigers (5-4-2).

Watseka 10, Blue Ridge/Deland-Weldon 1. Saia Dean scored the lone goal for the Knights (1-7) as the host Warriors (10-5) picked up a decisive nonconference win.

In girls' swimming and diving

At Urbana. The host Tigers cataloged a narrow victory over Bloomington Central Catholic, scoring 373 points to edge the Saints' mark of 361 in a meet that also included Pontiac (162) and St. Thomas More (132). Urbana didn't win any events, but consistent finishes that included second-place finishes from Lily Gilbert (200-yard freestyle, 39.66), Sydney Goeddel (50 freestyle, 28.16) and Abby Coppess (100 breaststroke, 1:30.52) helped the Tigers score the win.
