Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 2, WooSox 1: Wearing green Wicked Worms of Worcester uniforms, the WooSox tied the game in the eighth inning but allowed the winning run in the ninth as the RailRiders took the third game of this week's series at Polar Park.
Worcester (64-52, 25-16 second half) dropped a game behind Lehigh Valley (62-52, 26-15) for the IL East second-half lead. The IronPigs topped the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, 2-1, on Thursday night.
Ceddanne Rafaela homered with one out in the eighth inning to tie the game for Worcester, his 13th of the season in Triple A. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's Andres Chaparro parked his 21st of the season in the first off Worcester starter Brandon Walter, who allowed just two other hits over five innings.
But the RailRiders collected three hits and a run in the ninth before Andrew Politi retired a batter.
Wilyer Abreu had Worcester's other two hits, including a double. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starter Mitch Spence hurled six shutout innings, allowing just Abreu's hits and striking out six.
The uniforms worn by the WooSox were a tribute to Worcester's "Wormtown" nickname.
