Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime: How to watch, stream NFL games on Thursdays

Thursday Night Football begins its schedule on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday night with the Kansas City Chiefs' home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

It's the first season-long package of NFL games to be shown exclusively nationally on a streaming platform. 15 total games on Thursday nights will be shown on Amazon Prime Video.

Why is this important to Tennessee Titans fans? The Titans are the only team to have two games on Amazon Prime Video via the Thursday Night Football schedule. Tennessee's Week 10 game at the Green Bay Packers and the Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys are on Amazon Prime Video, and there will be no linear television broadcast for fans outside the Nashville market for those games.

Let's go through some questions.

So Thursday Night Football is on Amazon Prime Video. What do I need to watch TNF games this year?

You can either subscribe to Amazon Prime ($14.99 a month) or Amazon Prime Video ($8.99 a month) to see Thursday Night Football games this season. There is a 30-day free trial available, so use wisely.

So, that's stream-only. I don't want to subscribe to Amazon. How else can I watch these games?

According to a CNBC report, Amazon and DirecTV agreed to a deal in which thousands of bars and restaurants will be able to show Thursday Night Football games. That may be your best option.

The Tennessee Titans are on TNF twice this season. Do I need Amazon Prime Video to see those games?

Living in the Nashville market: No. If you watch Titans games locally on NewsChannel 5 (CBS affiliate) or Fox-17 (Fox affiliate), you'll be able to watch the Titans games on TNF on a local affiliate. For example, Tennessee's Week 2 game on Monday Night Football will be shown nationally on ESPN and locally on Fox-17.

Living outside the Nashville market: Yes. Even if you get Titans games each week in places like Knoxville, Bowling Green, Jackson or Huntsville, you will need to get Amazon Prime Video to watch TNF Titans games.

Those Titans games will take place on Nov. 17 (at the Green Bay Packers) and Dec. 29 (vs. the Dallas Cowboys).
