Thunder wing Lu Dort buys his mom a car for her birthday

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Lu Dort’s contract is perhaps the most team-friendly in the entire league, but he’s still gifting his mom with a lifestyle she deserves.

On Friday, Dort posted a set of pictures to Instagram in which he wished his mom a happy birthday. In the first picture, she was standing next to her brand new Audi.

In the caption, Dort wrote:

“Always dreamed about this as a kid. First, the house and now the car. You deserve the world Manmi. Happy Birthday and I love you”

In the comments, former and current teammates, including Hamidou Diallo, Theo Maledon and Darius Bazley, commented, with Maledon posting emojis of goats.

Dort’s parents moved from Saint-Marc, Haiti, to Montreal when they were 21. Dort was born and raised in Canada. He played freshman basketball in Quebec before moving to Florida for his sophomore and junior years in high school. He played his senior season in Ontario and spent a year at Arizona State before declaring for the NBA draft.

With the Thunder, he has already developed into one of the best defenders in the league and showed more promise on the offensive end last season than in his rookie year.

It earned him guarantees on the final two years of his contract, which had been nonguaranteed when he signed the deal. Dort is making about $3.7 million total over the next two seasons and then will hit unrestricted free agency.

He’s already started thanking his mom with his earnings.
