Nine York-Adams football players named all-state in Pa.'s top two classifications

The Pennsylvania Football Writers All-State teams in the three biggest classifications were released Friday, and nine YAIAA players were selected.

There were six players selected in Class 6A with four coming from YAIAA Division I champion Central York — running back Juelz Goff, defensive end Malachi Ramnath, defensive back Saxton Suchanic and kicker Matthew Parker.

Dallastown’s Michael Scott was selected as an athlete, and York High’s Michael McMonigle was selected on the offensive line.

Spring Grove offensive lineman Michael Hershey, New Oxford wide receiver Brennan Holmes and South Western defensive lineman Ayden Wysocki were named to the Class 5A team.

The Class 1A to Class 3A teams were released Thursday and Hanover wide receiver Joey Wilkinson in Class 3A was the lone YAIAA selection.

No YAIAA players were selected in Class 4A. About 90 sports reporters from around the state were involved in the nomination and voting process.

The GameTimePA YAIAA Player of the Year, Goff was the focal point for a Panthers team that went 11-1 and reached the District 3 Class 6A semifinals. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound senior rushed 242 times for 1,623 yards and 31 total touchdowns — leading the league in all three categories despite missing one game with an ankle injury.

Goff had three games with over 200 rushing yards and set Central York’s all-time rushing record with a career total of 3,761 yards, breaking a 48-year-old mark set by Brad Senft in 1975.

Goff has accepted a full scholarship from the University of Pittsburgh and will report to the school early in January.

On the other side of the ball, the 6-foot-3 Ramnath was a breakout star. The junior racked up 15 sacks and 43 tackles. Another 6-foot-3 junior, Suchanic didn’t give up a touchdown all season and has received significant interest from NCAA Division I programs.

Another future Division I player, Parker knocked 81% of his kickoffs (59 out of 73) for touchbacks. He successfully executed two onside kicks. As a placekicker, he went 40-42 on extra points with the two misses getting blocked. And he went 10-of-13 on field goals and made two kicks longer than 50 yards.

A 5-foot-9 receiver with blazing speed, Scott racked up 1,038 all-purpose yards — 493 receiving, 307 rushing and 238 returning. He also scored nine total touchdowns, intercepted four passes and went 11-of-18 for 170 yards and a touchdown as a passer.

Scott has eight scholarship offers from Division I programs with the latest coming from Pittsburgh.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound McMonigle helped York High average 331 yards and nearly 30 points per game. His effect on the offense became evident when a torn ACL forced him to miss the end of the season. The Bearcats went 6-4 but finished 0-3 and averaged just seven points with McMonigle out of the lineup.

McMonigle has accepted a full scholarship to Maryland.

Three multi-sport stars named all-state in 5A

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Hershey was a standout on both sides of the ball but was selected to the all-state team as an offensive lineman. The University of Maryland commit helped a young Rockets team average 44 points the final six weeks of the season. He also had 60 tackles and two sacks on defense.

Hershey is one of the best heavyweight wrestlers in the state and will look to win his second state medal this season.

One wrestler he will be competing against in the coming months is Wysocki, who was the top defensive player in the YAIAA this season and earned all-state honors on the defensive line. The 6-foot-2 Wysocki racked up 89 tackles, 25 tackles for a loss, six sacks, three fumble recoveries and a touchdown in 12 games. He helped the Mustangs go 8-4 and win a playoff game for the first time since 2011.

South Western lineman and senior captain Ayden Wysocki (61) walks to the sideline during a timeout in a District 3 Class 5A first round football game against Greencastle-Antrim Nov. 3, 2023, in Penn Township. The Mustangs won, 21-3.

Wysocki has yet to make a college decision but will likely have the opportunity to play NCAA Division II football.

The 6-foot-1 Holmes was the top receiver in the YAIAA. He caught 40 passes this season and produced 1,026 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also scored on an interception return and a punt return. He averaged 26 yards per catch and scored on nearly half his receptions. He had five games with more than 100 yards and six catches longer than 50 yards.

He led New Oxford to a 9-2 record and the top seed in District 3 Class 5A. He currently has an offer from NCAA Division II Mercyhurst. Holmes is also a standout basketball player for the Colonials.
