O'Tey, Sturgis track and field set even more records in qualifying for state championships

"Great day for Three Rivers track and field program," coach James Phillips said. "We are excited to continue to work with this group over the next two weeks to get them ready to compete at the finals."

Lamonta Stone ran to third place in the 100 meters at 11.18 seconds. This met the qualifying time.

Sulley Zietlow is also headed to the finals for the Cats. He finished third overall in the 800 meters, running a qualifying time of 1:59.28.

Three Rivers also got a personal record in the shot put from Max Burg. He finished with a distance of 48-0.75 feet, which was seventh overall on the day, but enough for an automatic qualifying distance.

The Cats also had a relay make the finals. Stone, Elijah Craig, Kyler Copenhaver and Charlie Brauer ran a time of 3:36.71 in the mile relay. This was good for fifth place, but met the qualifying time.

The Division 2 state finals will be held at Hamilton High School on Saturday, June 1.
