The Texas Tech men's golf team is one of six No. 1 regional seeds announced Wednesday by the NCAA and will head up a 14-team field in Norman, Oklahoma.

The six 54-hole regional tournaments are scheduled for May 15-17. Three of the regionals will have 13 teams and 10 individuals not on those teams, and the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams.

From each regional, the top five teams and the low-scoring individual not on those teams qualify for the NCAA championship tournament scheduled for May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The other regional sites are Auburn, Alabama; Salem, South Carolina; Bath, Michigan; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Morgan Hill, California. The No. 1 seeds at those locales, in order, are Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Illinois, Arizona State and Pepperdine.

In addition to Texas Tech, the other top five seeds playing at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club are host Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi and Wake Forest. Rounding out the field are Duke, LSU, North Florida, Colorado, Kansas, North Carolina-Wilmington, Louisiana-Lafayette, Princeton and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Texas won the NCAA championship last year, beating Arizona State 3-2 in the match-play final.

Texas Tech announced that its April 25 game at Abilene Christian University, suspended by weather with ACU leading 6-0 in the fourth inning, will resume where it left off at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Dan Law Field/Rip Griffin Park. It will be followed by the regularly scheduled Tech-ACU game that night.

The regularly scheduled 6:30 p.m. game will start 30 to 45 minutes after the suspended game's conclusion, similar to a doubleheader, but not before 6:30 p.m.

Single-game tickets for that day will be valid for both games, Tech said.

Abilene Christian is 27-16 and 11-10 in the Western Athletic Conference.

Texas Tech hosts Sam Houston State in a non-conference series this weekend with games scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. The Red Raiders are 30-15 overall, 9-9 in the Big 12 and ranked No. 24 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Sam Houston State is 28-18 and leads the WAC with an 18-6 conference record.
