The best 2024 high school power forward in Texas is staying in Texas.

Texas coach Rodney Terry landed a commitment from Nicolas Codie on Thursday. A 2024 four-star player out of Carrollton Newman Smith High School, Codie is the 10th-ranked PF in the country and 46th ranked player overall according to 247sports. He chose the Longhorns over Auburn, Houston, LSU and Miami.

Codie averaged 16 points and nine rebounds a game in the 2022 season, leading his team to a 22-8 record and the 9-5A District Championship.

The forward measures in at 6-foot-9, 200 pounds and comes from a family of athletes. His father is former Baylor and NFL safety Nakia Codie while his uncle Dustin Armstrong used to play receiver for Texas. The younger Codie is the second commit in the Longhorns 2024 class, with four-star shooting guard Cam Scott being the other one.
