An 11th-inning RBI double by Daniel Altman was the difference for Baylor as the Bears opened a weekend series Friday with a 4-3 win over Texas at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

The game was UT's first against a conference rival since March 10. Texas is 2-2 in Big 12 play. Baylor is 3-4.

In front of an announced crowd of 7,290, Texas built a 2-1 lead over a Baylor team that was coming off an 18-3 loss to Sam Houston State on Tuesday. The Bears, however, got to UT ace Lebarron Johnson Jr. in the seventh inning, and Baylor emerged from that frame with a 3-2 edge.

Texas tied the game in the eighth, but that would be the last line on the UT scoring summary. After Baylor took its extra-inning lead, Texas stranded a runner at first base in the 11th inning's bottom half.

Texas (13-9) and Baylor (8-13) will resume their series at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Longhorns left-hander Ace Whitehead (1-0, 2.08 ERA) and Bears right-hander Collin McKinney (1-2, 5.66) are the announced starting pitchers.
