Texas baseball caps off sweep of New Orleans with 9-3 victory

Texas baseball continues its hot streak with a 9-3 victory over New Orleans on Sunday to complete the series sweep.

The Longhorns bats have woken up on the latest homestand after a sluggish start to the season. The top of the Texas lineup especially is swinging it well of late.

Eric Kennedy blasted home runs in his first two at-bats to give Texas an early 2-0 lead. Kennedy may be on his way to conference play of the week honors after hitting five bombs during the week.

Dylan Campbell gave the Horns an exclamation point with a three-run home run in the seventh inning to put Texas up 9-2. Peyton Powell added an RBI and a run scored, going 3-4 on the day.

Longhorn pitching was good yet again, with Lebarron Johnson Jr. getting his first weekend start of the year. Johnson tossed four innings, giving up two runs as the bullpen pieced the rest of the game together.

Texas will host Incarnate Word in a midweek matchup on Tuesday before welcoming in Texas Tech to start Big 12 Conference play.
