Texans' Smith has knee scoped

On Monday, we reported that Houston Texans guard Wade Smith was getting a second evaluation on his injured knee that was originally diagnosed as a deep bone bruise.

Now, per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, Smith has had the knee scoped and will miss an undetermined amount of time.

Generally, when arthroscopic surgery is performed, a player can be out around two to four weeks. If Smith is on the high end of that general scale, it could put his availability for the Texans season opener in question.

The injury also means that rookie Ben Jones, a fourth-round pick, steps in for Smith on the offensive line.
