Texans to sign former 49ers, Colts, Eagles DT Hassan Ridgeway

The Houston Texans are bringing over a defensive player from the San Francisco 49ers who has familiarity with the defense of new coach DeMeco Ryans.

According to Aaron Wilson from KPRC-TV, the Texans are signing former 49ers defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway to a one-year contract worth $4 million with $3 million in guarantees.

Ridgeway, 28, played 12 games for the 49ers in 2022, starting in seven contests. With Ryans completing his final season as defensive coordinator in San Francisco, Ridgeway generated 28 combined tackles, three tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, and 1.0 sack. The former Mansfield High School product finished the season on injured reserve with a torn pectoral sustained in Week 13.

The former Indianapolis Colts 2016 fourth-round pick spent three seasons with the AFC South club, playing in 34 games with six starts. From 2019-21, Ridgeway played for the Philadelphia Eagles, starting in six of his 31 contests.
