Tennessee Titans vs. San Francisco 49ers live score updates: Week 16 in the NFL

The Tennessee Titans (9-5) are looking to get back on track in primetime, as they’ll face the San Francisco 49ers (8-6) on Thursday Night Football at Nissan Stadium (7:20 p.m. CT, NFL Network/FOX 17).

The Titans fell to the Steelers last week after Pittsburgh scored 16 unanswered points en route to a 19-13 victory. Against the 49ers, ball security will be key – Tennessee had four giveaways Sunday, bringing its total in its three losses to 13 – but winning the battle in the trenches defensively will also play a big factor in Thursday’s outcome. San Francisco has the NFL’s seventh-rated rushing attack, while Tennessee ranks second in run defense.

“Their strength is running the ball,” defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons said Tuesday. “Our strength is stopping the run. It’s one of those strength on strength things.”

A victory Sunday would give the Titans a 3-0 record in primetime in 2021. Tennessee can also clinch the AFC South with a win and an Indianapolis loss to Arizona on Saturday.

The 49ers, on a two-game winning streak, are the only opponent Mike Vrabel has yet to face during his tenure as Titans head coach (2018-present).
