Tennessee Titans' Ryan Tannehill will play, start in preseason finale vs. Patriots | Report

For the first time since 2019, Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill is poised to take some preseason snaps.

After watching the Titans' first two preseason games from the sideline, Tannehill is expected to play Friday night vs. the New England Patriots in the final preseason game of 2023, according to a report by Paul Kuharsky. This will be his first chance to log some extra reps behind a brand-new offensive line and in a new scheme devised by first-year offensive coordinator Tim Kelly.

Speaking earlier this week about the odds of him playing, Tannehill said he was open to whatever Titans coach Mike Vrabel decided.

"I’m good either way," he said. "I’m excited and happy with how things have progressed for us as an offense over the course of spring and training camp. Guys are coming out and grinding away. Obviously it’s not 100% yet but we’re building each and every day. I learn something each and every day. And whatever Coach Vrabel decides for Friday, I’m good with."

REPORT: Tennessee Titans rookie QB Will Levis not expected to play vs. Patriots Friday

Second-round pick Will Levis will miss a second consecutive preseason game with an upper leg injury, ESPN reported on Friday.

Tannehill, who did not play in the preseason last year, will start Friday, but the bulk of the snaps under center will be taken by Malik Willis. The 2022 third-round pick played nearly every snap last weekend at Minnesota with Levis out.

The Titans' game against the Patriots concludes the preseason, 16 days before the season opener at the New Orleans Saints.
