Tennessee Titans' Ryan Tannehill hopes to play against Houston Texans after injuring ankle

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill said his right ankle was still hurting after Sunday's 19-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts, but he hopes to return next week to play against the Houston Texans.

Tannehill was wearing an orthopedic walking boot on his ankle when he met with the media at Nissan Stadium.

"It doesn't feel great, I had to battle through it there at the end," Tannehill said. "Sometimes it comes with the territory. I'm going to be out there if I can at all. And I'm going to do everything I can this week to get it right, feeling the best I can for (next) Sunday."

Tannehill left the game after throwing a pass deep in Colts territory in the fourth quarter. He spent about 10 minutes in the medical tent before emerging with a limp.

After missing one play Tannehill was able to return to the game on the Titans' next possession. Two plays later, however, Malik Willis, who lined up as a wide receiver, fumbled the handoff from Tannehill, and the Colts recovered.

The Titans (4-2) play the Texans at 3:05 p.m. Sunday (CBS).

"This is just another bump in the road; a thing I can grow from," Tannehill said. "Just work through it and try to be better for it."
