Tennessee Titans game-by-game predictions after 2024 NFL schedule release

Now that the Tennessee Titans' 2024 schedule is here, there's one big question to answer: Which games will they win?

The NFL released the Titans' schedule for the 2024 season on Wednesday, detailing when coach Brian Callahan will lead the team on the field for his debut season in Nashville. Quarterback Will Levis and his revamped collection of skill players will look to improve the Titans' fates after back-to-back losing seasons, while defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons is the face of a rebuilt defense that features one of the best cornerback groups the franchise has ever assembled.

Here are The Tennessean's game-by-game predictions for the 2024 Titans season.

Week 1: at Chicago Bears (Sept. 8, noon, FOX)

Quarterback Caleb Williams has the weight of a century of Bears offensive heartbreak on his shoulders for his NFL debut. That's a lot to carry, but he acquits himself well and the Titans start the season in the hole.

Prediction: Bears 23, Titans 21

RED STALLION ON BROADWAY: Tennessee Titans post sequel to viral NFL schedule release video: Remember 'The Red Stallions'?

Week 2: New York Jets (Sept. 15, noon, CBS)

The Jets aren't a particularly deep team, but the top-end talent on this roster is as good as anyone's in the AFC. The Titans are unlucky to be catching this team at the beginning of the season.

Prediction: Jets 27, Titans 10

Week 3: Green Bay Packers (Sept. 22, noon, FOX)

The Packers are an interesting team. A fun, young roster on the rise, but one that doesn't have all that much top-end star power at premium positions. The Titans' cornerbacks do their best to frazzle Jordan Love, but the Packers' corners can do the same to Levis. A low-scoring affair comes up Green Bay's way.

Prediction: Packers 20, Titans 13

Week 4: at Miami Dolphins (Sept. 30, 6:30 p.m., ESPN on 'Monday Night Football')

Levis' late-game magic gifted the Titans a surprise win in Miami last year. Now they seem to have further Dolphin-proofed their defense by loading up in the secondary. The Dolphins are probably the better team, but the Titans are the right kind of pesky to extend the winning streak with their best offensive game of the season.

Prediction: Titans 34, Dolphins 27

Week 6: Indianapolis Colts (Oct. 13, noon, CBS)

The Colts outperformed expectations last year, but there's still so much unknown about this squad with quarterback Anthony Richardson. The improved defense stymies a lot of what coach Shane Steichen's offense tries to do here, giving the Titans a much-needed divisional win.

Prediction: Titans 23, Colts 17

Week 7: at Buffalo Bills (Oct. 20, noon, CBS)

These aren't the same Bills that fans are accustomed to seeing. The secondary is depleted, the receiving corps is lacking and the offense may be better suited for a run-first attack. Quarterback Josh Allen is still dangerous and is going to make some plays that give the Titans fits, but they rally late to pull off the upset here.

Prediction: Titans 30, Bills 27

Week 8: at Detroit Lions (Oct. 27, noon, FOX)

The better team wins this one. The 2024 Titans have a better shot than the 2023 squad would've, but that's still not saying much.

Prediction: Lions 28, Titans 13

Week 9: New England Patriots (Nov. 3, noon, FOX)

Levis getting a chance to show out against his childhood favorite team feels like a pretty solid opportunity for a breakout win. Give this one to the Titans, especially as the Patriots are still figuring out how to rebuild.

Prediction: Titans 31, Patriots 20

Week 10: at Los Angeles Chargers (Nov. 10, 3:05 p.m., FOX)

The Harbaugh-ification of this Chargers unit will take some time. By this point in the season, things should be running relatively smoothly. But the Titans still go into Los Angeles and secure a midseason win.

Prediction: Titans 17, Chargers 10

99th PERCENTILE: Numbers don't lie: Titans first-round pick JC Latham is unlike anyone football has seen

Week 11: Minnesota Vikings (Nov. 17, noon, CBS)

By November, will the Vikings be starting Sam Darnold or JJ McCarthy? Will either be any good? And does any of it matter if the Vikings' defense doesn't take a massive step forward? Expect the Titans to win this one pretty handily.

Prediction: Titans 28, Vikings 14

Week 12: at Houston Texans (Nov. 24, noon, CBS)

C.J. Stroud is very good, and the Texans only helped him get better with all the pieces they added this offseason. The Titans improved quite a bit, but defectors Denico Autry and Azeez Al-Shaair come out on the winning end this time over their former squad.

Prediction: Texans 35, Titans 21

Week 13: at Washington Commanders (Dec. 1, noon, CBS)

The Commanders had a great draft, but this is still a young team fighting its way through a brutal schedule. No reprieve here, as the Titans win one they're supposed to.

Prediction: Titans 24, Commanders 18

Week 14: Jacksonville Jaguars (Dec. 8, noon, CBS)

Trying to project logic on to a Titans-Jaguars game feels foolish. Something strange is going to happen. The unpredictable will feel normal. And the Jaguars pull this one out after 3½ hours of fans wondering if they're watching a game that's going to end in a tie.

Prediction: Jaguars 27, Titans 24 (final/overtime)

Week 15: Cincinnati Bengals (Dec. 15, noon, FOX)

Consider this one of the most intriguing games on the Titans' schedule. Callahan, cornerback Chidobe Awuzie and Tyler Boyd will be battling against their old team, another installment in a series that has bubbled as something of a rivalry in recent years. The Titans got the better of Cincinnati last year, but it's tough to bet against a healthy Joe Burrow here, even as the Titans' secondary is massively improved.

Prediction: Bengals 27, Titans 21

Week 16: at Indianapolis Colts (Dec. 22, noon, CBS)

The Colts ran all over the Titans in Indianapolis last season. This game won't be an exact repeat, but the Colts defend their home turf well and take this one.

Prediction: Colts 21, Titans 15

Week 17: at Jacksonville Jaguars (Dec. 29, noon, CBS)

Jacksonville's pass rush will be one of the biggest and most intense tests for the rebuilt Titans offensive line. JC Latham handles himself well, but the right side of the line is still enough of a concern to give the Jags an edge in their home stadium.

Prediction: Jaguars 20, Titans 10

Week 18: Houston Texans (game day, time TBD)

The Texans handed the Titans some embarrassment during last year's matchup in Nashville, winning on Oilers throwback day. The Titans don't set themselves up for that again, but they do end the season on a dismaying losing streak reminiscent of how 2022 went down.

Prediction: Texans 24, Titans 16
