Tennessee State football and basketball moving to new flagship radio stations

Tennessee State's athletic teams have a new radio flagship, joining WNSR 95.9 FM/560 AM.

The Tigers announced a three-year deal Friday with WNSR, which will move the football team along with men's and women's basketball teams from 94.9 FM starting the 2023-24 season.

TSU will replace Vanderbilt baseball and women's basketball games, which were broadcast on WNSR before moving after the 2022-23 season to The Game 102.5 FM.

"We are thrilled to return to WNSR, one of the founding stations for TSU Athletics," said TSU athletics director Mikki Allen. "The profound significance that WNSR will bring to our football and basketball games will undoubtedly be cherished by our devoted fans."

TSU football coach Eddie George and men's basketball coach Brian "Penny" Collins will have weekly shows broadcast during their respective seasons on WNSR.

Greg Pogue, who serves as host on a morning sports talk show on WNSR, will remain the play-by-play announcer for football and men's basketball. Former Tennessee Titan wide receiver Chris Sanders will join Pogue in the football booth while veteran broadcaster Albert Dawson will be with him for men's basketball broadcasts.

Adam Johnson, WNSR operations manager, will serve as executive producer for all TSU broadcasts.

"This collaboration with TSU perfectly aligns with our mission to provide Nashville sports fans with top-quality coverage," Johnson said. "We are committed to showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of TSU athletes, and we are honored to become the radio home for Tiger football. Through this partnership, we aim to elevate the game day experience for all TSU fans and foster a deeper connection between the radio station and the North Nashville community."

The 2023 football season kicks off Sept. 2 at Notre Dame. It will also be broadcast on NBC television. The full schedule is here bit.ly/3CUB8mg.
