AUSTIN, Texas — Rick Barnes' return to Texas with Tennessee basketball has arrived.
The No. 20 Vols (14-5) play at No. 25 Texas (15-5) on Saturday (8 p.m. ET, ESPN) in the Big 12/SEC Challenge
"I’m a Tennessee Volunteer," Barnes said Wednesday. "I really am. Texas is a big part of me, and always will be. But I’ve been gone seven years."

Barnes remains the winningest coach in Longhorns history, having complied a 402-180 record in 17 seasons. He took Texas to 16 NCAA Tournaments with five Sweet 16 appearances, three Elite Eight bids and a Final Four in 2003.
Tennessee is 5-2 in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Vols played Kansas in each of the past two seasons, losing at Kansas in 2020 and beating the Jayhawks in 2021 at Thompson-Boling Arena.
