Taco Bell Is Giving Away Free Tacos on June 13

All thanks to the Golden State Warriors.

You might want to send a thank-you note to the Golden State Warriors this week, since, thanks to the NBA championship team, we'll all be getting free Taco Bell tacos on Wednesday. Simply waltz into your nearest T-Bell anytime between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. local time on June 13, order a Doritos Locos taco, stuff your pockets with hot sauce, and waltz right back out, without ever spending a dime. Ah, the magic of basketball!

The giveaway is all part of Taco Bell's annual "Steal a Game, Steal a Taco" NBA Finals promotion, which dictated that if either the Warriors or the Cleveland Cavaliers won a game on their opponent's home court, the rest of us would reap the benefits — via Doritos Locos tacos. The Warriors actually won twice in Cleveland last week, but it seems Taco Bell is giving out only one "stolen" taco per person, per NBA Finals.

The Warriors have actually been responsible for many, many free tacos in the past few years: They defeated the Cavs in Cleveland at least once in the 2016 and 2017 Finals, as well. Technically, one could make the argument that the Cavs are actually to thank for all the free tacos — since they've so graciously sacrificed wins on their home court so the rest of the country may feast . . . so maybe consider sending a thank-you note their way, too.

And although there's something special about getting food from a restaurant completely for free, that doesn't mean you have to limit yourself to just one Doritos Locos taco. In fact, with the money you save on the taco, you could add on an order of Nacho Fries, a fries-stuffed burrito, or a bag of the chain's brand-new hot sauce-flavored tortilla chips, and truly live más.
