The T&G Hometeam gymnastics all-stars for winter 2022-23

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette, with the Central Mass High School Sports Awards program, presented by DCU – Digital Federal Credit Union, is proud to announce the nominees for gymnastics. The winner will be announced during the live show Wednesday, June 28 at the Hanover Theatre.

During the live show, these nominees will be honored, along with the athletes of the year in 31 other sports with Athletes of the Year, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, and a Courage Award.

Westborough, Sophomore

Buradagunta excelled for the Rangers at the Mid-Wach Championships, taking first in the bars (9.15), beam (9.45) and floor (9.2) to help Westborough finish fourth. Buradagunta set team records for the Rangers this season in the vault (9.6), floor (9.6) and the bars (9.3) as she helped Westborough establish a new team record score of 139.5. Her performances at the league championships and helping the Rangers set the scoring record were her two most memorable moments of the season. She also was proud to compete with her sister Jaya, a senior for Westborough, in her final season of gymnastics. Buradagunta, who is a member of the National Honor Society and is a Level 10 gymnast at Elite Gymnastics Academy in Ashland, enjoys cooking in her spare time and is hoping to work in the medical field and plans to compete in gymnastics in college. She is the daughter of Patricia and Syam Buradagunta of Westborough.

Alyssa Davis

Hudson, Junior

Davis shined this season for the Hawks and placed fourth in the all-around at the Mid-Wach Championships with a score of 34.850 to clinch her first spot on the Telegram & Gazette Super Team. Davis recorded a 9.0 on the beam, 8.9 on the bars, 8.55 on the vault and 8.4 on the floor in the event. Davis is undecided on her college plans, but hopes to study architecture and one day become an engineer at Walt Disney World. She is the daughter of Stacey and Matt Davis of Hudson.

Olivia LaBelle

Algonquin, Junior

LaBelle placed fifth in the all-around at the Mid-Wach championships to help the Titans finish fifth in the team competition. Among all-around competitors, LaBelle tied for third in the bars (9.0) and took eighth in the vault (8.45), tied for eighth in the beam (8.4) and was ninth in the floor (8.5) to total 34.350 points. LaBelle posted a personal best score of 9.0 twice on the bars this season for Algonquin and qualified for the state individual meet in the event. LaBelle is a two-time Mid-Wach all-star and was named team MVP by coach Angela Keith. LaBelle enjoys journaling, practicing calligraphy, playing the ukulele and giving back to her community in her spare time. She is also a member of Algonquin's outdoor track team. LaBelle is hoping to become a physical therapist. She is the daughter of Melissa and Phil LaBelle of Southborough.

Caeleigh Salmon

Marlborough, Senior

Salmon, who attends Nashoba Regional, but competes as part of a co-op with the Marlborough squad, took second in the all-around at the Mid-Wach Championships with a score of 36.200 ‒ just 0.2 points from the top score ‒ to earn her second spot in the Telegram & Gazette Super Team. Her score helped the Panthers take second to Groton-Dunstable as a team. Salmon qualified for the all-around championship at the state meet and also was selected for the High School Senior Invitational that takes place in May. Her highest score this season was a 9.45 on the balance beam for the Panthers. Salmon was a captain this year for coach Sam Kelley. Salmon enjoys shopping, watching movies and hanging out with friends in her spare time, and while she is undecided on college plans in the fall, she hopes to major in finance. She is the daughter of Karen and Raymond Salmon of Bolton.

Nina Scaramucci

Groton-Dunstable, Senior

Scaramucci was crucial to an amazing season for the Crusaders, as Groton-Dunstable capped a second-straight undefeated season with a trip to the New England Championships. Scaramucci earned her second spot on the Telegram & Gazette Super Team by finishing third in the all-around at the Mid-Wach Championships with a score of 36.050. Among the all-around competitors, Scaramucci was tops in the floor with a 9.4, and also finished tied for second in the beam (9.4) and the bars (9.0) while scoring 8.25 on the vault as Groton-Dunstable claimed the team title. Scaramucci owns school records in the beam and floor, with scores of 9.5 on both. A captain for coach Bill Kane, Scaramucci is a member of the Senior National Team and hopes to pursue a career in public health after college. She is the daughter of Amy and Jim Scaramucci of Littleton.

Charlotte Woodbury

Groton-Dunstable, Junior

It was a phenomenal season for Woodbury and the Crusaders, as the junior earned Mid-Wach MVP honors by helping the Crusaders to a second-straight undefeated season. Woodbury earned her second Telegram & Gazette Super Team nod by claiming the all-around title at the Mid-Wach Championships with a score of 36.400. Woodbury notched a 9.4 in the beam, a 9.3 on the floor, a 9.2 on the bars and 8.5 on the vault to lead Groton-Dunstable to the team title. Woodbury's scores of 37.6 in the all-around and 9.45 on the bars are school records. Woodbury enjoys skiing and knitting in her spare time. She is the daughter of Hannah and Doug Woodbury of Groton.
