The T&G Hometeam girls' swimming all-stars for winter 2022-23

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette, with the Central Mass High School Sports Awards program, presented by DCU — Digital Federal Credit Union, is proud to announce the nominees for girls' swimming. The winner will be announced during the live show Wednesday, June 28, at the Hanover Theatre.

During the live show, these nominees will be honored, along with the athletes of the year in 31 other sports with Athletes of the Year, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, and a Courage Award.

Junior, 100 Freestyle

Bergeron, who is a student at Littleton High, repeated as a T&G Super Team honoree after finishing third in the 100 free at the Mid-Wach League championships. Earlier in the season, Bergeron set a personal best with a time of 56.82 seconds in the event. Qualifying for the state meet in the 100 free at the sectionals was Bergeron’s most memorable moment of the season. At the MIAA Division 2 state championships, she finished 12th in the 100 free and 11th in the 100 back. Bergeron was a league all-star and will serve as team captain next season. She is the daughter of John and Carrie Bergeron of Acton.

Freshman, 100 Breaststroke, 200 Individual Medley

Chung had a terrific showing at the Mid-Wach League championships. She won the 100 breast, was second in the 200 IM, and helped the Titans’ 200 medley relay team to a sixth-place finish. Qualifying for the state meet was her most memorable moment of the season. At the MIAA Division 1 state championships, Chung was 11th in the 100 breast and 15th in the 200 IM. She was a Mid-Wach all-star and her team’s MVP. She is the daughter of Donna Lee and KG Chung of Southborough.

Senior, 100 Butterfly, 200 Individual Medley

Dudevoir was the Mid-Wach League champion in the 100 butterfly and the 200 IM. She went on to finish fifth and seventh, respectively, in her events at the MIAA Division 2 state championships. The fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly, the best of her career at the state meet, was among her most memorable moments of an outstanding season. A two-year captain, Dudevoir was co-MVP of the Mid-Wach League and her team’s MVP for the second time. She earned league all-star honors for the third straight year. She owns program records in the 100 butterfly, 200 IM and 100 backstroke. In the fall, she will attend Harvard College, where she will concentrate in integrative biology, with a secondary field in global health and health policy, on a pre-med track. She is the daughter of Mari Paz Miralles of Groton.

Alice Gayduchkova

Junior, 100 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle

Gayduchkova captured first place in the 500 free at the Mid-Wach League championships. She finished second in the 100 free at the league meet. At the MIAA Division 1 state championships, Gayduchkova was 12th in the 500 free. The first meet of the season, and her teammates’ energy and support, was her most memorable moment of the year. She helped Shrewsbury to a 10th-place finish in the 400 free relay at states. She plans to attend the University of Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Vladimir and Oxana Gayduchkova of Shrewsbury.

Maria Korneva

Junior, 100 Backstroke

Korneva finished second in the 100 back at the Mid-Wach League championships and broke her own school record in the event with her sixth-place performance at the MIAA Division 1 state championships. Korneva had been trying all season to improve upon her mark of 1:01.71, but sickness slowed her down. At the state meet, she finished in 1:00.98 to set a new record, which was her most memorable moment of the season. She helped Shrewsbury to a 10th-place finish in the 400 free relay at states. Korneva was a Mid-Wach all-star. She hopes to study data science in college. She is the daughter of Svetlana Korneva and Denis Kornev of Shrewsbury.

Audrey Liu

Sophomore, 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle

Liu captured the 50 free and was eighth in the 100 free at the Mid-Wach A championships. She helped Shrewsbury to a first-place finish in the 400 free relay and, swimming breaststroke, a third-place performance in the 200 medley relay. Winning the 50 free, as the fourth seed, was Liu’s most memorable moment of the season. At the MIAA Division 1 state championship, she was part of the Colonials’ 10th-place 400 free relay team. She is the daughter of Cong Liu and Yunhui Zhang of Shrewsbury.

Sierra Quinty

Senior, 100 Butterfly, 100 Breaststroke

The versatile Quinty, who is a student at Ayer Shirley, earned her second T&G Super Team honor after finishing second in the 100 fly at the Mid-Wach League championships. Quinty, who sometimes dives, was a team captain and she earned Mid-Wach all-star honors. At the MIAA Division 2 state championships, Quinty was 13th in the 100 breaststroke, and part of Bromfield’s 17th-place 200 medley relay team. In the fall, she will attend the University of Vermont, where she will study chemistry. She is the daughter of James and Elizabeth Quinty of Shirley.

Hannah Reddick

Junior, 200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle

Reddick earned her third consecutive T&G Super Team honor after her first-place performance in the 200 free at the Mid-Wach League championships. Reddick was third in the 500 free. Supporting her teammates and making it to the state meet were her most memorable moments of the season. At the MIAA Division 1 state championships, Reddick was 18th in the 200 free, and she helped the Colonials to a 10th-place finish in the 400 free relay. Reddick is a three-time league all-star and three-time team MVP. She will be a captain next season. Reddick is also a member of Shrewsbury’s rowing team. She is the daughter of Robyn and Bryant Reddick of Shrewsbury.

Caitlyn Reitsma

Junior, 100 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke

Reitsma earned her third straight T&G Super Team honor after tremendous showings at the Mid-Wach League championships and the MIAA Division 1 state championships. Reitsma won the 100 free and 100 back at the league meet, and was third and fifth, respectively, in the events at the state meet. Finishing fifth in the 100 back, as the No. 8 seed, was her most memorable moment of the season. Reitsma is a three-time Mid-Wach MVP. She is considering studying kinesiology in college. She is the daughter of Yem and Mike Reitsma of Westborough.

Sophie Robinson

Junior, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Freestyle

At the Mid-Wach League championships, Robinson finished second in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 100 free, and helped the Rangers’ 200 freestyle relay team to a first-place performance. Robinson was 15th in the 100 breaststroke at the MIAA Division 1 state championships. Robinson’s goals for next season include breaking the school record in the 100 breaststroke, which has stood since 2009. Robinson was a Mid-Wach League all-star. Her most memorable moment of the season was racing her club teammate, Algonquin Regional’s Mina Chung, in the 100 breast at the league meet and finishing 1-2. Robinson hopes to study biochemistry in college. She is the daughter of Sally and Nick Robinson of Westborough.

Lily Tonole

Senior, Diver

Tonole, a four-time T&G Super Team honoree, capped her outstanding career by capturing the 1-meter diving titles at the Mid-Wach League championships and at the MIAA West-Central Sectionals. She owns school and Mid-Wach records, and breaking the Bromfield record was her most memorable moment of the season. Tonole was the Mid-Wach League Diving MVP. In the fall, she will attend Fairfield University. She hopes to become a veterinarian. She is the daughter of Kelly and Richard Tonole of Lunenburg.

Zoey Zhu

Senior, 100 Backstroke

Zhu followed up a fourth-place performance in the 100 back at the Mid-Wach League championships with a 10th-place finish in the event at the MIAA West-Central Sectionals and a17th-place standing at the MIAA Division 2 state Championships. She qualified for the state meet every year of her high school career, and she was the only female Tantasqua swimmer to make it this year. Zhu improved her personal bests for the 100 back and 200 individual medley this season, and also swam with the 200 medley relay team. She was a four-year captain and earned her team’s MVP award. In the fall, she plans to attend Mount Holyoke College and major in biology. She is the daughter of Wayne Zhu and Alice Kao of Sturbridge.
