Swimming and diving: Pair propel Litchfield Dragons to victory

Sep. 21—LITCHFIELD — Ellie Brown and Adeline Lundin pulled off a pair of wins to secure a victory for the Litchfield girls swimming and diving team.

The Dragons beat Wright County Conference rival Watertown-Mayer 58-32 Thursday at Litchfield Middle School.

Brown won both sprint events. She won the 50-yard freestyle at 27.16 seconds, then took first in the 100 freestyle at 59.50.

Lundin took the top spot in the 200 individual medley (2:31.01) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.90).

Adallia Bruning (200 freestyle, 2:11.00), Brooke Caron (500 freestyle, 7:13.38) and Emily Petersen (100 breaststroke, 1:15.89) also won events for Litchfield. The Dragons also won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

"The girls did a fantastic job pushing through after a hard week of practice," said Dragons head coach Ashlynn Mattson. "(I'm) proud of this team and cannot wait to see more great things out of the season."

Litchfield travels to Melrose at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
