Phoenix Suns' Big 3 leads domination of San Antonio Spurs for third straight win

The Phoenix Suns (42-29) dominated the San Antonio Spurs (15-56) in a 131-106 road win on Saturday.

The victory extends Phoenix's win streak to three, San Antonio has dropped its last three, and Phoenix got its first win in a four-game season series against San Antonio.

In the Phoenix Big 3's 30th game together, Devin Booker scored the game-high 32 points with nine assists and seven rebounds, Kevin Durant had 25 points, and Bradley Beal contributed 13 points and season-high 12 assists.

San Antonio's star rookie Victor Wembanyama had 13 points (5-of-7), five rebounds, and four assists.

The Suns were highly efficient on both ends of the floor. They shot 59.6%, including 11-of-24 from the arc, had 38 assists on 56 field goals, got 11 steals, scored 19 points off San Antonio's 15 turnovers, and held their own turnover count to 10, which is under the Suns' 14.2 per game average.

Phoenix will play at San Antonio again on Monday at 5 p.m., the second of a five-game road trip.

Suns continue rolling behind Big 3 in 3rd quarter

The Suns' Big 3 pushed Phoenix to its biggest advantage over San Antonio and ended with a 101-70 lead entering the final quarter..

Devin Booker has the game-high 32 points with nine assists, Kevin Durant's scored 25, and Bradley Beal has 11 points with his season-high 11 assists.

The Suns' largest lead got to 32 in the third. Their offensive production has been stellar, only having five turnovers, shooting 61.3% overall and 47.4% from the 3, and made 45 shots on 29 assists.

Durant increases Suns' lead in 2nd quarter

Phoenix pushed its biggest lead up to 20 twice in the second quarter's closing minutes until Tre Jones hit a buzzer-beating floater over Kevin Durant for a 65-47 score.

Durant scored 11 of his 17 points in the second period, which balanced Devin Booker's first-quarter scoring spree for Phoenix. The other third of the team's Big 3, Bradley Beal, has six points and seven assists.

The Suns have been efficient committing just two turnovers, 18 assists on 28 made field goals.

San Antonio's 7-foot-4 Rookie of the Year candidate and No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama has 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting, four rebounds, and two assists.

Booker's hot starts sets tone for Suns in first quarter

Devin Booker's 12 points (5-of-9 shooting) to lead all scorers helped push Phoenix past San Antonio, 26-17, to close the opening period.

The Suns' largest lead was 24-12. Their defense forced five Spurs turnovers compared to the Suns' one, and held the Spurs to 27% shooting, and allowed just two field goals attempts in the last two minutes

The Suns are starting Devin Booker and Bradley Beal in the backcourt, Grayson Allen and Kevin Durant at the three and four spots, and Jusuf Nurkic at center.

The Spurs will open with Tre Jones runing the point, Devin Vassell at shooting guard, Justin Champagnie and Jeremy Sochan at forward, and Victor Wembanyama in the middle.

Injury reports: Suns' Nurkic available, Okogie returns

Phoenix's starting big Jusuf Nurkic (orbital contusion) has been updated to available after suffering hit to his face in their Thursday win over Atlanta. Backup forward Josh Okogie (lower abdominal strain) has also been made available after missing 10 consecutive games, and Damion Lee (right meniscus surgery) remains out, and has been all season.

The only player on San Antonio's injury report is center Charles Bassey (knee), who's out for the rest of the season from a torn ACL.
