Kevin Durant leads huge 4th quarter rally as Phoenix Suns down Sacramento Kings

The Phoenix Suns (22-18) pulled off its biggest comeback win of the season in stunning fashion, edging the Sacramento Kings, 119-117, Tuesday night at Footprint Center.

It was the third straight win for Phoenix.

The Suns were down by 22 points with a little more than 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter, but went on a remarkable 32-8 run to upend the score and take the lead in the final seconds.

Grayson Allen led all Suns' scorers with 29 points, including nine 3-point shots made to tie a team record he matched earlier this month against Miami. Kevin Durant added 27, scoring 15 in the decisive fourth quarter, including two free throws with less than 2 seconds remaining that gave Phoenix the lead and win.

Also scoring in double figures for the Suns were Bradley Beal (13 points, five assists), Devin Booker (16 points, 11 assists), Jusuf Nurkic (10 points, game-high 15 rebounds) and their sixth man Eric Gordon (13 points, three 3s).

All-Stars De'Aaron Fox had 33 points for Sacramento (23-17) and Domantas Sabonis registered a triple-double of 21 points, 12 rebounds, and tied Booker for the game-high 11 assists in the Kings' collapse.

The Suns play their next game on Friday at the New Orleans Pelicans.

Booker, Gordon lead Suns' late surge in 3rd quarter

Sacramento was still in front at the end of the third, 96-84, but Phoenix was able to make a push.

Quarter over quarter, Sacramento has extended larger margins. Phoenix was in its deepest hole 21 points after Keegan Murray (15 points) hit his second trey at 8:20 in the third.

Led by Eric Gordon and Devin Booker, Phoenix made an 11-2 run from 3:30 to 1:14. Booker scored nine of his 16 points in the third, and Gordon scored all of his seven during that run.

The Kings' top player De'Aaron Fox now has the game-high 25 points. Phoenix's Grayson Allen has 23, including nailing 7-of-12 from the arc.

Kings continue dominating Suns in 2nd quarter

Phoenix's home crowd started booing its team as Sacramento continued rolling into halftime, 68-51.

Sacramento is sacking the Suns offense, scoring 14 points off their 11 turnovers. The Kings' latest takeaway in the first half was by De'Aaron Fox (team-high 17 points, five assists), who stripped Jusuf Nurkic and cruised to a breakaway dunk at 35 seconds left to up the game's largest lead to 19.

Grayson Allen’s hot shooting for Phoenix continued in the second. He leads all scorers with 20 points, has nailed 7-of-11 from the field, including 6-of-8 from deep.

Allen and the Kings' Sasha Vezenkov had a brief shootout in the middle of the second. Vezenov scored 10 of his 12 points off the bench, and the Kings' sixth man has eight points with five assists.

Phoenix's bench has been almost non-existent regarding scoring, producing just two points.

Kings takes over late in 1st quarter

The Suns trail the Kings 39-27 at the end of the opening period.

Phoenix's defense began to struggle as Sacramento closed the quarter on a 14-6 run within the last four minutes.

Grayson Allen began the quarter with a hot hand for the Suns, hitting three of his four trey attempts and has the game-high 11 points.

The Suns are starting guards Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, Grayson Allen on the wing, Kevin Durant at the four spot, and Jusuf Nurkic in the middle.

The Kings will open with De'Aaron Fox and Kevin Huerter in the backcourt, forwards Keegan Murray and Harrison Barnes, and center Domantas Sabonis.

Kings' Murray ruled in, Suns' Watanabe late scratch

Sacramento starting forward Keegan Murray (right hip) was upgraded from questionable to available, per Kings coach Mike Brown during his pregame media session.

Phoenix reserve forward and 3-point specialist Yuta Watanabe (illness) was ruled out just minutes before the tip-off.

Injury report: Suns' Bol out for 2nd straight game

Phoenix's versatile backup center Bol Bol will miss his second consecutive game from a right foot sprain. He previously missed two of the Suns' past four from the ankle injury he suffered in their Jan. 5 home win over the Miami Heat.

Bol last played in Phoenix's 127-109 win at the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. He shined with his contributions of six points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals, two blocks, and no turnovers in 17 minutes against L.A.

His season averages are 3.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12 games played, but he's emerged since New Year's Day producing 8.8 points on nearly 78% shooting, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 in blocks and steals each in 16.5 minutes.

The only other player on the Suns pregame injury report is Damion Lee (right meniscus surgery).

The Kings are nearly at full strength, but the team's third-best scorer Keegan Murray (right hip irritation) is questionable, plus guards Jordan Ford and Colby Jones are out on assignment in the G League.
