‘He’s still a bucket’ – Kendrick Perkins on why Celtics should sign Carmelo Anthony

Should the Boston Celtics sign Carmelo Anthony? One former- Celtic big man certainly thinks so. During an interview with Bally Sports’ Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Kendrick Perkins explained why his old club ought to bring Anthony into the fold.

With Danilo Gallinari likely out for the season, the Celtics are a little thin on the wing. And given Gallinari was also expected to spend some time in the front court, Boston may look to bring in a play of a similar profile. Perkins certainly thinks Anthony fits the bill, especially considering the ten-time All-Star appears willing to take a bench role. Likewise, Perk explained Anthony’s offensive prowess could take pressure off of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

“He’s still a bucket,” said Perkins. “You’re asking him to come in and give you 12-15 points consistently every night. ‘Melo’s doing that in his sleep! You got enough defenders around him and he’s going to put forth the effort”

Perkins went on the explain that Boston’s excellent defensive infrastructure should be enough to mask any limits in Melo’s game. You can catch the whole interview here.
