What Steve Sarkisian said after Texas’ first practice of fall camp
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian appeared pleased with his teams first practice of fall camp on Wednesday.
Sarkisian specifically mentioned a few players by name, the most notable being quarterback Quinn Ewers. The third-year head coach stated Ewers had one of the cleanest practices he’s seen as a Longhorn.
On the defensive side, Sarkisian applauded the unit for doing a good job of getting the ball punched out. Replacing linebacker DeMarvion Overshown will be no easy task, but Sarkisian is looking for versatility and consistency at the position. At this point, it feels like David Gbenda is in line to start with Anthony Hill and Morice Blackwell expected to receive significant playing time at the position.
Here’s a look at everything Sarkisian had to say after Texas’ first practice of fall camp.
Texas HC Steve Sarkisian: “The energy was really good out there today. I thought the guys came with an intent to work. I think you find out who’s really ready from a conditioning standpoint on that first day, and some guys that still need some work.”

#Texas CB Ryan Watts can seem like a known commodity as the starter in the boundary, but he's also only entering his second season as a full-time starter. I asked Sark if the next step for him is coming up with more interceptions. Here's his response: pic.twitter.com/CLVThr7Ttx
