Stephen A. Smith: Nets failing to win Eastern Conference would be a ‘stain’ on Kevin Durant

There are still plenty of questions surrounding the Brooklyn Nets‘ roster, and much of the organization’s expectations for the coming season hinge upon the availability and prowess of Ben Simmons, who has not played since June of 2021.

With Kevin Durant returning, the Nets have been lauded as having one of the most complete and talented rosters in the entire league – but only if Simmons can return to form and provide the defense the team so desperately needed down the stretch.

Stephen A. Smith says that if the Nets are fully healthy, they should win the Eastern Conference and appear in the NBA Finals – and that any other result would indelibly stain Kevin Durant’s legacy.

“KD, Kyrie and Ben Simmons, on the court together, healthy? I’m going with Brooklyn.

…. In the end, Brooklyn should be the team that comes out of the East. And if they don’t, boy is it going to be a stain on KD, no doubt about it.”
