Stellar performances as state championship draws near: Cast your vote for the Hometeam Baseball Player of the Week

There were plenty of great performances on the diamond last week, and Rich Garven found some of the best for readers to vote on to decide the Hometeam Baseball Player of the Week.

Congratulations to Sutton's Andrew Cloutier for taking the top spot of last week's poll with 929 votes (24.1 percent) to outlast Bartlett's Tyler Whiting (681 votes) for the honor in a poll with over 3,800 votes.

Player of the week nominations are selected by reporters based on coaches reporting game results into the Telegram & Gazette sports department and game coverage from the T&G sports department staff. Ryan Arsenault, North Middlesex

The junior went 2 for 3 with a two-run homer in a win over Shawsheen and pitched 5⅓ innings of three-hit relief against St. Mary’s in the Division 3 state tournament.

James Churchill, Ayer-Shirley

The senior went 2 for 4 and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth to lift the Panthers to a 5-4, walk-off win over Ware in Division 5 state tournament action.

Alex Coco, Leominster

The senior hit a two-out, walk-off single in the ninth versus St. Paul and threw 5⅔ scoreless innings in relief against Braintree as the Blue Devils advanced in the Division 1 state tournament.

Jack Forgues, St. John’s

The junior hit an RBI single versus Franklin and collected three hits, a walk, four RBIs, and a run while pitching 2⅓ perfect innings in relief against St. John’s Prep as the Pioneers moved on in the Division 1 state tournament.

Brady Hubert, Northbridge

The senior had two hits and two RBIs as the Rams defeated Littleton and collected two hits and an RBI against Seekonk in the Division 4 state tournament.

Jason Juels, Littleton

The junior had two hits and drove in a pair of runs to propel the Tigers to a 3-1 win over Stoneham in Division 4 state tournament action.

Colin Loehr, Douglas

The senior delivered a two-run single in the seventh to lift the Tigers to a come-from-behind, walk-off victory over Mt. Everett in the Division 5 state tournament.

Johnny Losordo, Oakmont

The junior hit a two-run single in a 3-0 win over Nauset and belted an RBI single and scored on an error to break open a tight game against Bishop Stang as the Spartans advanced in the Division 3 state tournament.

Lucas MacNevin, Tantasqua

The junior pitched 4-1/3 scoreless innings against Dighton-Rehoboth and went 2 for 4 and, in the eighth, drove in two runs versus Hanover as the Warriors posted a pair of Division 3 state tournament wins.

Brian Silvester, Clinton

The sophomore allowed one hit, didn’t issue a walk and recorded six strikeouts in a complete-game shutout and was 2 for 3 with four RBIs as the Gaels defeated Case in Division 4 state tournament play.
