Steelers QB Kenny Pickett gives Big Ben smart answer on 4th down question
This week’s episode of Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger was one for the ages. Roethlisberger had Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett on the show and the conversation was everything we hoped for.
At one point in the interview, Roethlisberger gave Pickett an in-game scenario and Pickett’s answer was exactly what you want to hear from him.
“4th and goal at the one, you running or throwing it,” Roethlisberger asked.
“Get me on the move, I can do either,” Pickett said confidently.
This is exactly the answer you want from your franchise quarterback. Put the ball in his hands and let him decide what he wants to do with it. Pickett’s athleticism wasn’t fully explored by the offense last season but we are hopeful that changes in 2023, especially around the goal line.
In 2022, Pickett threw for 2,404 yards but chipped in 237 rushing yards on 55 carries. As a comparison, Roethlsiberger’s career-high rushing total for a single season was 204 yards in 2007.
