Here are the states where you can legally bet on the Super Bowl

While Super Bowl LVIII is being played in Las Vegas, the gambling mecca of the world, not everyone will be able to wager in the host city.

Fortunately for sports bettors, more states than ever allow legal action on the big game.

Sports betting is legal in 38 states and Washington D.C. Of those states Kentucky and Vermont legalized betting since Super Bowl LVII and North Carolina expanded legal sports betting to include online betting, though it will not be rolled out in time for the duel between the San Fransisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

"Every year, the Super Bowl serves to highlight the benefits of legal sports betting: bettors are transitioning to the protections of the regulated market, leagues and sports media are seeing increased engagement, and legal operators are driving needed tax revenue to states across the country," American Gaming Association President and CEO Bill Miller said in a 2023 press release. The AGA estimates 68 million people could wager on the Super Bowl.
