Stark County-area high school football stats leaders through 7 weeks of 2023 season

Through seven weeks of the 2023 high school football season, two Stark County-area players stand out in terms of dominating a particular statistical category: Canton South's Tavon Castle in receiving yards and Lake's Ryan Lippe in tackles for loss.

Castle is having a monster year as the favorite target for record-setting QB Poochie Snyder. The senior totals 869 receiving yards — 212 more than the area's next closest receiver. Castle also is the only area player with more than 50 catches so far, totaling 58, with 10 of them going for touchdowns. The distinction of most receiving TDs in the area actually goes to Castle's teammate, Tre Wilson, with 11.

Meanwhile, Lippe has been a destructive force at defensive end for the Blue Streaks. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound junior has 18.0 tackles for loss, 4.5 more than the next closest defender. Lippe also is second in the area in sacks with 10, one behind Sandy Valley's Chapin Greer with 11.
