St. Mary's Springs boys hockey clinches Badgerland conference championship with 5-0 shutout over Fondy

FOND DU LAC - St. Mary's Springs (15-8, 7-1) claimed the Badgerland hockey conference championship with a 5-0 shutout victory over the Fond du Lac Cardinals (11-8-2, 6-2-1).

Jaiden Miesner opened the scoring for Springs on the power play with assists from Isaac Sabel and Gabe Braun.

Armani Fisher scored a pair of even strength goals and Miesner added a shorthanded goal for the Ledgers in the second period. Assists were credited to Quinn McLaughlin, Austin Westergaard, Teigue Wagner, Sabel and Braun.

Finally, a third period power play dagger on an assist from Westergaard secured the hat trick for Fisher and a Springs victory.

The Ledgers outshot Fondy, 48-17.

"Not much to say about our effort tonight; it was not there today," said Cardinals coach Ryan Sarazin. "Give credit to Springs on an excellent game played."

Spencer Shober had 39 saves for Fondy and Brendan Gaertig had 17 for Springs.

Waupun 2, Fox Cities 1

FOND DU LAC - The Warriors (11-9-3, 4-3-1) defeated the Stars (8-14, 2-7) in the Badgerland Conference tournament.

Haiden Rieder got things started for Waupun in the opening period with a goal on the power play, assisted by Nate Batzler.

After no score in the second period, Ryan Ostermann tied it up for Fox Cities in the third on assists from Landon Hanson and Cale Adamovich.

Later in the period, Chase Beahm scored the go-ahead goal for the Warriors, unassisted, which proved to be the game-winner as well.

Blake Colker had 24 saves for Waupun and Elliot Reichenbacher had 23 saves for the Stars.

Campbellsport tied for ninth place out of 16 teams with a total score of 24 at the event hosted by Green Bay Preble High School. Here are the results:

120: Bella Pickering (19-9) placed 5th and scored 9.0 team points. 126: Emma Batzler (19-9) placed 3rd and scored 15.0 team points.

GIRLS HOCKEY

University School of Milwaukee 2, Warbirds 1 - (2 OT)

ASHWAUBENON - The Warbirds (13-7-1, 5-3-1 Eastern Shores) fell to the Wildcats (15-7, 6-3).

Charlotte Fetherston opened the scoring in the first period for USM with a power play goal on the assist from London Chase.

After a scoreless second period, Chloe Tobin tied it in the third on an assist from Abby Waara to send the game to overtime.

One overtime wasn't enough, though, as the two teams played on until Fetherston earned her second goal of the day, unassisted, to ice the win for the Wildcats.

Emma Jillig had 23 saves for the Warbirds and Molly Jex had 23 saves for USM, as well.

MAYVILLE - The Ledgers (11-9, 5-6) claimed their third consecutive Flyway victory in a 29-point blowout of the Cardinals (3-16, 2-9), who have lost four straight.

Anna Willis scored 12 points and had three steals to lead Springs. Jasline Loynes and Gracie Konkol both followed with 11 points each for the Ledgers. Loynes added five steals and Konkol grabbed eight rebounds with four steals.

Ellie Wojahn led Mayville with 10 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Springs 32 32 - 64

Mayville 20 15 - 35

Winnebago Lutheran 48, No. 5 (D-5) Randolph 40

FOND DU LAC - In conclusion to a strong week with a 3-1 record against some quality opponents, the Vikings (14-5, 7-4 Flyway) knocked off the (Division 5) No. 5-ranked Rockets (14-5, 11-0 Trailways-West) after holding Randolph to just nine points in a low-scoring, defensive first half.

The second half saw both offenses catch up with each team scoring over 30 points, but WLA maintained their lead throughout and claimed an eight-point non-conference victory.

The Vikings' duo of Lindsey Nell (20) and Abby Cole (14) combined for 34 points but were matched by the Rockets' duo of Maddie Medema (20) and Mya Moldenhauer (14). WLA's extra scoring support from Addy Suprenand and Makenna Kohnke (six points each) made up a key difference that led to the win.

Cole also grabbed 19 rebounds to collect yet another double-double on the season and Nell had seven boards with four steals.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Saint John's Northwestern Academies 57, Campbellsport 53

DELAFIELD - The Cougars (3-14, 1-9 Flyway) held a one-point lead at the half but fell to the Lancers (4-12, 2-8 Midwest Classic) in a non-conference contest.

Mason Willacker made four three-pointers for Campbellsport, finishing with a team-high 13 points. Jace Goebel added a couple 3's of his own to add 12 points for the Cougars, along with three steals.

Andrei Honrada scored a game-high 21 points to lead St. Johns Northwestern and James Visocky followed with 13 for the Lancers. Honrada and Visocky each had three 3-pointers.
