Sports scores, stats from the weekend: Wensley leads B-R baseball to big win over Franklin

TAUNTON— The second to last weekend of the spring high school sports season brought quite a bit of action to the Greater Taunton area.

Here's a look at all of the scores, stats and results from Saturday and Sunday.

Boys Track and Field: Taunton at Hockomock Championship

RESULT: Fifth Place (61)

LOCATION: Foxborough High School

DATE: May 20

HIGHLIGHTS: Dmitrius Shearrion led the way for the Tigers winning both the 100 meter with a time of 0:11.29 and the 200 meter with a time of 0:22.4 while Enrique Maldonado finished third in discus with a top throw of 107'7", Malachi Johnson finished third in the long jump with a distance of 21'4.5", Anthony Pettijohn finished third in the triple jump with a distance of 42'4.5", Elijah Perez finished fourth in javelin with a top distance of 128'8" and the 4x100 meter relay team of Jonathan Trinh, Omari Rodridgues, Johnson and Shearrion finished fourth with a time of 0:44.84.

Girls Track and Field: Taunton at Hockomock Championship

RESULT: Eighth Place (38)

LOCATION: Foxborough High School

DATE: May 20

HIGHLIGHTS: Emersyn DePonte finished second in the 800 meter with a time of 2:20.77 while the 4x400 meter relay team of Phylicia Dias, Ava Uhl, DePonte and Caelen O'Leary finished second with a time of 4:21.21, Dias finished third in the 800 meter with a time of 2:28.03 and O'Leary finished fourth in the 400 meter with a time of 1:01.45. In field events, Sophia Olaniyan had the top Tiger finish as she came in sixth in discus with a top distance of 88'8".

Baseball: Bridgewater-Raynham at Franklin

SCORE: Bridgewater-Raynham 5, Franklin 4

LOCATION: Franklin High School

DATE: May 20

RECORD: 14-4 (6-2 Southeast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: Casey Wensley hit a go-ahead three run home run in the top of the seventh as the Trojans handed the Division I No. 1 ranked Panthers their first loss of the season.

Boys Track and Field: Bridgewater-Raynham at MSTCA South Shore Twilight Meet

RESULT: First Place (65)

LOCATION: Norwell High School

DATE: May 20

RECORD: 5-0 (5-0 Southeast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: Kauan Bento won both the 100 meter with a time of 0:10.93 and the 200 meter with a time of 0:22.78 while Connor Johnson won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 0:57.88, Declan Hetrick won shot put with a top throw of 45'3" and the 4x100 meter relay team of Evan Bray, Bento, Michael Gurley and Marqui Galvin won with a time of 0:44.65. Other top three finishes include Jack Alves coming in second in the two mile with a personal best time of 10:17.87 and the SMR 1600 meter team of Joseph Manning, Jack Hannigan, Johnson and Daniel Leet coming in third with a time of 3:53.42.

Girls Track and Field: Bridgewater-Raynham at MSTCA South Shore Twilight Meet

RESULT: Second Place (45)

LOCATION: Norwell High School

DATE: May 20

RECORD: 5-0 (5-0 SEC)

HIGHLIGHTS: Camden Strandberg won the high jump with a personal best height of 5' while Nethica Auguste finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 33'11.5", the 4x100 meter relay team of Alisha Gomes, Auguste, Omoye Odiah and Mahalia Forbes-Smith finished second with a time of 0:52.62, Kayla O'Hara came in third in javelin with a top distance of 100'6" and fourth in the 800 meter with a personal best time of 2:26.93 and the 4x800 meter relay team of Strandberg, Brenna Woodbury, Brianna Reid and O'Hara finished fourth with a time of 11:02.5.

Girls Lacrosse: Dighton-Rehoboth at East Bridgewater

SCORE: Dighton-Rehoboth 11, East Bridgewater 6

LOCATION: East Bridgewater Junior-Senior High School

DATE: May 20

RECORD: 9-6 (5-5 South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: Lily Nees led the way for the Falcons with five goals and an assist while Karina Bosco had two goals and an assist, Mara Levesque had two goals and an assist, Olivia Thibert had two goals, Kelsey Palmer had two assists, Mate Moitoso had an assist and Ava Escobar made six saves in net. With the win, D-R qualified for the Division III tournament.

Boys Track and Field: Dighton-Rehoboth at SCC Championship

RESULT: Ninth Place (25)

LOCATION: Seekonk High School

DATE: May 21

RECORD: 1-4 (1-4 SCC)

HIGHLIGHTS: Evan Thibert had the top finish for the Falcons, coming in second in the 200 meter with a personal best time of 0:23.55 while Nicholas Ware finished third with a time of 11:03.6 and the 4x100 meter relay team of Dav Diaz Tavares, William Dalton, Thibert and Joel DaSilva finished third with a time of 0:45.19. In the field events, DaSilva had the best finish for the Falcons as he came in seventh with a personal best height of 5'8" while Jordan Dietz finished right behind him in eighth with a personal best height of 5'6".

Girls Track and Field: Dighton-Rehoboth at SCC Championship

RESULT: Sixth Place (45)

LOCATION: Seekonk High School

DATE: May 21

RECORD: 2-3 (2-3 SCC)

HIGHLIGHTS: Ryann Welzel won discus with a personal best throw of 112'5" and came third in shot put with a top throw of 32'2" while the 4x800 meter relay team of Zoey Jestude, Maggie Kazanjian, Riley Kazanjian and Jaelyn Johnson finished second with a time of 11:20.37 and Grace Sullivan finished third in the 400 meter with a personal best time of 1:06.66.
